Potatoes have complex carbs meaning they are digested really fast and keep you full longer because they slowly release glucose in your body. They contain important nutrients such as vitamin c, thiamin, fiber, etc. However, you should not be eating that much potatoes everyday. I'm curious though, why did you decide to become vegetarian?

i would be eating about 5 potatos 4-5 times a week currently and have not incounted anyting bad. I cant see why it would be bad but they are reasonably high in energy which if unused turns into fat in the body which might be something to remember.

if you dont mind them keep skin and a bit of cold pressed olive oil if you want to add some oil.

You need a well rounded vegetarian diet.
It isn't as simple as just not eating meat.
You shouldn't eat fried foods either.
You need to eat whole wheat and grains, olive oil, yogurt,
peanut butter, fruits and berries, and all types of vegetables.
Also it is good to take supplements when you are a vegetarian. amino acids would be good to take too.

here is a basic idea but avoid soy and tofu because they are processed to the point they are really bad for you unless you know 100% for sure it is organic.

You should have filled your cupboards & refrigerator/freezer with vegetarian food before starting on this lifestyle. Potatoes are packed with carbs & too many of these starchy carbs will cause weight gain. You need to eat lots of protein while a V. It keeps you feeling fuller longer & women need protein, as in dairy products for Calcium so you won't develop Osteoporosis later on in life, & peanut butter, etc. Chewing four extra strength Tums daily will work just as well. You need to buy fresh fruits, veggies, etc. Go online & educate yourself as to what a Vegetarian diet is all about. Be good to your body & eat right!!!!!!

You need to add protein and actual green vegetables. This is not a healthy diet. Vegetarian sources of protein are:

Tofu
Beans
Cheese (not vegan but it is vegetarian)
Eggs (not vegan but it is vegetarian)
Legumes
Chick peas
Hummus

There are also good vegetarian meat substitutes you can buy or ask your parents to buy. (depending on your age.) Also, if you plan to be vegetarian you will need to add flax seed to things you eat because it contains Omega 3's which you only get if you eat fish or flax seed. Since you won't be eating fish, you need to be sure to either add flax seed to your diet or find a good flax oil supplement.

Vegetarian - does not eat meat
Vegan- does not eat meat or any animal products.

That's how I was when I first turned vegetarian. I was confused I didn't know what to eat. Get some salad, go to some frozen breakfast aisle and look for vegetarian breakfast patties. It won't taste good for the first time since you just quit eating meat. It will gradually help you with your protein intake to replace meat. Don't force yourself too hard... If you don't mind egg, take some as well.

Congratulations and I hope you won't loose hope being a vegetarian. You can do it!

Potatoes are yummy veggies. I think a max of 2 per day is reasonable.

Its probably not a good idea to eat so many potatoes. Instead, eat some vegies also and include some bread and other fruits also.

Starch and carbs will make you gain weight fast.
