Your blood pressure is very high. How do you know it is this high. Have you a blood pressure monitor at home. You must have your blood pressure checked by a doctor. It is very important that you do this as soon as you can.
Normal blood pressure is:
120/80
Yours is much higher than that.
High blood pressure can damage your arteries, heart and kidneys and lead to a stroke.
Hypertension (high blood pressure) is called a silent killer, because it does not cause any symptoms, also when it is severely high it can also cause major organ damage if not treated.
Please make an appointment at the doctors. High blood pressure is treatable. Get it treated. It is very important.

You have got Stage 2 Hypertension.
Lifestyle changes may help control your blood pressure:
* Lose weight if you are overweight. Excess weight adds to strain on the heart. In some cases, weight loss may be the only treatment needed.
* Exercise regularly.
* Eat a healthy diet. Eat less fat and sodium. Salt, MSG, and baking soda all contain sodium. Eat more fruits, vegetables, and fiber.
* Avoid smoking.
* If you have diabetes, keep your blood sugar under control.
Consult the doctor immediately.
Please see the web pages for more details on Hypertension.

First of all, how do you know that is your blood pressure?
If it was a nurse or doctor who took it, they would have told you that it is too high.
Normal blood pressure for an adult is 120/80 while at rest, it can also vary at different times of day.
Anything over 160/100 is considered high blood pressure or hypertension and you should consult your GP or telephone your hospital at the earliest
opportunity.
There is no need to worry though, beause blood pressure can be lowered by diet changes and/or drugs.
Your doctor will also tell you to give up smoking and alcohol, if you have these habits. They are always contributory factors in Hypertension.

The top number, which is systolic is not supposed to be over 139, and the bottom number, which is dystolic for men should be between 70-90 and for women, should be between 60-80.
Pulse rate is also important in this equation. Your pulse should never be below 60. That is the minimum that pacemakers are set at. Go to your doctor and get checked out before you have a stroke.
