my friend recently had sex then found out the guy had pubic lice. she was shaved down there and still is, and hasn't had any major symptoms except for occasional, mild itching. can she still catch it?

if so, how should she treat it?

Mild itching might be because she shaves down there.

If she had crabs she'd know it and be screaming it to the whole world.

If she didn't get it recently, she's not going to get it now, unless she goes back to the guy who's had them and if he still has them.

Reduce the numbers is what was said once when I was in college. That applies to a lot of things like germs and in this case: lice.

If she does have them she should change underwear frequently. Sleep in underwear. Change the bedsheets. Shower and/or bathe frequently and not share towels with anyone. Wash clothes and towels and dry hot in a clothes dryer.

Buy a vial of lavender oil. 10 drops to 10 drops of olive oil in another container and put on affected area. if that doesn't stop the itching adjust it to 10 to 5. You can use lavender oil straight and not burn the skin. This, with the above treatments will get rid of them.

pubic lice lay their eggs on hair folicals. your friend should not have anything to worry about. if she is worried tell here to see a pharmacist.they can lead her to soaps or proper medications. GOOD LUCK!

YES. In fact, shaving can make it worse, because then the nits dig into the skin to get to the hair follicle.

The only way to get rid of crabs is the same way you get rid of lice. You go to the pharmacy and you buy the treatment soap. Ask a pharmacist to help you. Do NOT feel embarrassed. You can get them other ways than just sexual contact. I got them after I had been camping for a week when I was 14. I was a virgin then. Heck, I hadn't even KISSED a boy at 14. If you feel like you need to explain, just tell them that you went on a long camping trip.

Shaving alone does not sort it out.You need a lotion .
Personally i kind of keep away from people with poor hygeine and ofc sexual habits.
I would advise your friend to dump the guy assuming she is regular with him
