Does anyone know how AIDS really started?
By the way, are there any myths about it?
Such as:
• It started from a monkey
• A man had sex with a monkey

Nobody knows. We do know that the aids virus originated in a monkey, but we do not know for certain how it got into humans. There is some speculation that Hitler actually experimented with what he called the "simian Virus", meaning Monkey virus, though the evidence of this is in question.

In some parts of the world, HIV is spread almost exclusively through heterosexual contact. Gay/bisexual men don't even seem to enter into the equation in such places. If the disease had entered the western world in the straight population first, would people think it was a straight disease caused by heterosexual sex? Did it come from monkeys? I doubt it. There is a simian AIDS virus (SIV), but there is also a Feline AIDS virus (FIV). Has someone been sleeping with Garfield or something?

I don't know how it really started, but sometimes I believe it was a man-made virus that got out of hand. There are people who work in labs and get paid to create viruses and such for reasearch.
To some people that sounds really stupid, but do a little research - HIV doesn't follow any of the previously set rules for viruses. It's completely different. It'a like a hybrid of a bunch. . .

1. It started from a monkey.
Sort of... it started with the "Simian Immunodeficiency Virus" or "SIV" in chimpanzees. Hunters would kill the chimpanzees to eat their meat (not kidding) and sometimes they would cut themselves, where upon the virus infected humans after some mutations, probably. Chimpanzees are not monkeys - they are apes.
2. A man had sex with a chimpanzee.
Totally false - a grown chimpanzee weights about 150 pounds and is vicious - a man trying to have sex with a chimpanzee would be killed by the chimp tearing him to pieces. Michael Jackson had to give up his chimp "Bubbles" when it got too old - baby chimps are cute - grown chimps are DANGEROUS.
So, #1 is part of the true story, #2 is nonsense.

Why is it everthing started in Africa? You could absolutely prove a disease started in Hoboken from fumes coming out of Exxon, and some body will say it must have come out of Africa. Amazing.

someone in a tribal culture probably ate tainted meat its true the virus was already a simian disease the Aids we know is a mutation of that virus it was bright to the amercias in the 60's by a Haitian immigrant

my step mom told me one about a guy that was a flight attendant.. well that guy was going all over Africa having sex with people and monkeys.. and then he went on to fly inter continental flights.. like Europe and both the Americas.. Asia and Australia.. so it got spread around from that one guy.. its not true.. but whatever
