Infertility can result as quickly as 3 weeks, or as long as many, many months. Unfortunately, I got that source a lnog time ago, and I am having trouble tracking it down.

What you should do for your report is look up "pelvic inflammatory disease." When chlamydia goes untreated, it develops into pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). It's PID that actually causes infertility, but the PID wouldn't be there without an underlying infection like chlamydia.

With that said, because the vast majority of chlamydia cases are silent (no symptoms whatsoever), it's hard to pinpoint when many people get infected, and how long they've been harboring the infection. Therefore, it's hard to collect accurate data on how long it takes to go from chlamydia infection to PID to infertility.
