I'm 14 years old, but my parents think I tell lies about my health for "attention". I don't know why, but they've never even checked to see if any of my "Tall tales" were true or not, and it's came back to bite them.
What can I do without telling my parents "I think I have diabetes" to get tested?

Well, I pee a lot and it smells sweet.
I'm super-tired all the time, but get plenty of sleep.
My arms itch like crazy and are dry even after I put lotion on them...the kind my dermatoligist suggested.
I get random spurts of blurred vision, no I don't wear contacts.
I'm always thirsty.
When I take a nap or such, right after eating, for even just an hour, I wake up feeling like I HAVE to eat, because I have seriously no energy and my hands just start shaking.
I put a few of these things into google and Diabetes popped up.

I wonder why they think you are telling lies about your health when you are doing that now.
Your parents are you best advocates.Talk to them.
If that doesn't work, talk to the school nurse.
Unless you are severely overweight, you may have type 1.Type 1 is not controlled by not eating sweets. This is serious. You may need insulin.
I wish you the best.

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

I tell you what the problem really is, your parents may be in a financial bind, and dont want to fork out any money unnecesarily, however your health may be at risk. You need to be really sure that you have a problem, not just paranoid because you think you have a few symptoms.
1. Frequent urination (not attributed to too many sodas).
2. Blurred vision.
3. Fuzzy thinking.
4. Tire easy.
are a few symptoms.
Try and help yourself by cutting back on sugary foods, exerise, 7 to 8 hours of sleep, drinking 8 cups of water.
Also drink tea, Black tea if possible that contains cinnamon, ginger and black pepper. If you can find the tea brand "TAZO" Spiced Black tea in your grocery store, that will be a great help.
If you have tried these things and still having problems you may have to state your case a bit more sternly...again, with bills to pay, mortgage, food, gas etc your parents really need to be sure before they hand over 100 to 200 dollars to a doctor, more if they have no insurance.

Do you know anyone with diabetes, if so ask them to test your blood sugar. But as a parent I would think you spend to much time on the Internet looking for symptoms but if that is not the case get help quick. They must have a reason for thinking you tell TALL TALES. I wonder how they come back and bite THEM How often do you have TALL TALES to tell. I don't like to be bitten very often so if it happened more than once I would think they would listen not think you were looking for attention. If you lived near me I would check it for you. Sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for. GOOD LUCK !!!! and get checked

You need to go to a doctor. One of my friends died at age 21 because she was diabetic and put off telling her parents about her symptoms. They ended up rushing her to the hospital when she was 15, and things went downhill from there. If your parents won't take you to the doctor find someone who will. You are 14, and in most states that makes you old enough to seek medical attention without your parents supervision. If going to a doctor isn't plausible at all, try going to Walmart and buying a glucose machine to test your blood sugar. If your fasting blood sugar is above 120 even once, go to a doctor immediately.

Danielle, if your urine is "sweet smelling" that would suggest that there are ketones in it. "Spilling ketones" is pretty serious stuff. You can buy test strips at your pharmacy to test for sugar in your urine, but not having ketones doesn't mean you don't have diabetes. Blood sugar tests are much more accurate. If you can't talk to your parents, try your school nurse or local health department. Many organizations have free diabetes screening. Get it checked out.

How do you know that you have diabetes? And if you do this is not something one uses to get attention. Have your school nurse or school physician get involved and call your parents and explain the seriousness of the disease. My golfing friend has what might be considered chronic diabetes. During the course of a round he will test himself a minumum of four times and take what he has to in the way of fruit, etc. to balance what he found. So get the school involved

I dont see why they'd think you're telling lies? They should be CONCERNED about ur health instead of criticizing your claims. You should read up on the symptoms and causes of diabetes and contact a doctor ASAP and get your blood sugar tested. You may or may not have it but its best to check it out just to be sure.
Wish u all the best

Cut out deserts cokes and sweets. Also cut back on starches such as potatoes, rice and corn. If you start feeling better that will give you some objective information to present to your parents. Also are there any aunts or uncles that are diabetic? Good Luck

You need to go to the doctors. If your parents refuse medical care to you then you must call 911. But know that if you do, your parents might get arrested and you put up for orphanage. But you NEED medical attention ASAP! Diabetes symptoms are very similar to those of leukemia. Merry Christmas! :D
P.S. E-mail me I want to know if you are diagnosed and get treated. tristansmyth@pacbell.net
