My kitchen is under renovation so we have no kitchen right now all we have to use is a microwave, I'm suppose to eat 3 meals no more then 500 cal each meal and no more then 50 carbs per meal. What can I eat that will keep me full but keeps me in my cal and carb budget. Any other advice would be great I just got diagnosed yestarday so im still learning about all this. Thanks

Hi Baby

I totally empathize with you. When I first found out I had diabetes I sort of went into meltdown. I had no idea what it really was nor how to manage it. It took a lot of work to fill in the gaps and work out that it's pretty much just a lifestyle change rather than a huge issue.

Mostly, stop stressing! Eat a good proportion of food (no seconds) and no sugary snacks. You might find that it's better for you to eat say 6 small meals a day rather than a larger 3. In this way you won't feel so hungry. I know they say 3 meals but you have to go with what works for you. If you feel the need for sugars between meals, far better to have 6 good meals a day than 3 normal ones and the odd sugary snack.

Exercise will help a great deal. If you're heavily overweight, try yoga or pilates first before delving into those high impact aerobics. You want to lose weight here, not injure yourself with something your body isn't ready for.

Look for cookbooks not just for diabetics but also low cholesterol since it's practically the same diet. Either one will give you lots of range to choose from.

Where foods are concerned, my advice is low salt / cholesterol margarines, low fat or no fat milk, lots of water and cut down on caffiene. Soft / soda drinks are totally off the menu!

Your not really telling us if you are on medication etc.... A lot depends on how many carbs you eat.
I think a well rounded diet with fresh veggies and a fruit and protien such as a serving of chicken or fish or very lean red meat would be excellent.
You need to see a dietician regularly so she/he can help you carb count and get your diet regulated and planned out.
Its very important for you to get your weight under control if you are obese.
Good luck and dont get discouraged. Just keep on doing the best you can.

Milder cases can be controlled with just diet an/or exercise while more severe cases require meds or insulin as well.

. They show an interesting videos as well on the home page. I don't think that you can reverse diabetes as they asserts but I have to admit that I found the method very inspiring with lots of good tips (especially nutricional tips). It also gave me a different perspective on my disease.

Vegetables and meat. They used to recommend a high fat diet, but now they know that's not a good idea. Fats burn slowly in the body and help keep your insulin steady but most fats are unhealthy. Lean meat is good because protein burns relatively slowly, too. Vegetables, also, burn slowly and are very healthy. Anything with sugar is bad. Sugar is referred to by many other names: sucrose, fructose, dextrose and others.

Avoid sugar and high amounts of carbohydrates. Eat balanced meals with whole grains at regular times. Losing weight helps control diabetes.
