What are the requirements to donate a heart to an adult, to a kid?

It is all about the size of the heart. (in addition of course to blood type and all the other matching factors. )

If the recipient's chest is small and body is small, then a child's heart may be able to accommodate the work load needed to sustain the adult. An infant or toddler's heart wouldn't be able to meet the demands of the adult. That would be too small. The size would need to be proportionate to the body. Preteen would probably work for a petite person.

Now, to look at an adult donating to a child...there are more factors that they look at. If they had two hearts available, one from a child about the same age and size, and one from a 50 yr old, they would go with the child's heart of course. BUT, if that 50yr old heart was perfect and is the ONLY one available and everything matches, and the child would most likely die if they waited another day or week, then they may go ahead and do it.

They go by the size of the persons involved. Was the child more adult size and vice versa. They have to have the right blood type and stuff too. I know a small woman who got a kidney from a large man. It just depends.

My neice is 10 and is already over 5'4". I have a 12 year old neice who is not even 5'.

This is a question only a cardiac specialist can answer.
I suggest you contact a cardiology clinic or a cardioligist.
Another possibility is to contact the American heart Association.

Possibly......donated organs are matched very carefully. I am afraid the a child's heart may not be a match for an adult.

It goes by body mass and weight.

no -- same developmental levels go to same.

Preteen heart will go to a preteen person in need.
Same for other organs.

i would thik deffently not because it wont connect to the bigger sytem of an adult wich would probably lead to heart troubles and breathing problems.
