Hey kitten.......vegetarians do not eat any animal flesh. The people who eat meat, as described by some here, are only vegtarians in their own wannabe fantasies. The vegetarian society INVENTED the word vegetarian and therefore they are the sole entity that can define it.

As you see, the consumption of animal flesh is not allowed.

You seem to understand what's going on here with these Flexi-trolls so I commend you for your understanding of logic and your awareness in regards to those who post here with "agendas".

Give it up Skully, you're just an omnivore like "me". Pretending you aren't just makes you look desperate.

You're right. Vegetarians don't eat fish or any other animals. There are people who call themselves 'vegetarians' and eat fish and that's wrong, because it confuses other people. Eat fish if you want, but don't attach the vegetarian label.

There are a couple of people on this board (if you've hung around here for a while, you'd know who they are) who insist that the "vegetarian cultures of Japan and China eat seafood" even though there is no freakin "vegetarian culture" in Japan or China, apart from some orthodox Buddhist homes and monasteries. The only country with a loose vegetarian culture is India, and fish is definitely not considered part of it.

Fish and chicken are the two most widely consumed meats among the *non-vegetarians* of India (beef and pork are taboo).

Technically a "vegetarian" who eats fish is a pescitarian. no longer all vegetarians are vegetarian for animal rights. some for well-being motives, and which would be why some consume fish.

Pescatarian - is the word you are looking for - people who eat fish but not meat.

I guess this is because it is better to do something towards promoting the welfare of animals than to do nothing at all. If everyone does a little bit, just makes a few changes to their diet, it will all add up.

So for some people they may eat fish but not meat, so they are not supporting the cruelty involved in the meat industry.

For others it may be about buying free-range eggs so that they do not support the cruelty of battery farming.

Others may take the decision to go that step further and be vegetarian or even further, and convert to veganism.

But every step taken is better than doing nothing at all - everyone Can do something to discourage the cruel conditions of factory and battery farming.

I have only been one for 2 weeks and have not run in to this problem yet but they go to steak houses and stuff so when go there i will get something with noodles or rice. I do not eat fish lobster or crab only shrimp I try my best to not eat meat at all but when it comes to eating some shrimp once in a while and giving up my vegetarianiam up completely i would rater eat the shrimp

When I was in year 7 doing food tech my teacher said that some vegetarians eat fish and chicken because they're cold-blooded animals.

However I'm a vegetarian and I don't eat meat full stop.

A veggie is not a veggie if they eat meat or fish! No matter what their thoughts or beliefs. Joanna Lumley says she will not eat anything with a face - Food for thought.

I'm vegetarian and I hate it when people eat fish or chicken and call themselves vegetarian. It's confusing, but I can't do anything about it; it's not like we can arrest them or something.

Several people on this forum like to say "vegetarian" has a different definition in other countries, but they never give any references or websites to back up what they say.

Most of the world's vegetarians eat some fish. One finds them in other cultures where the understanding of "vegetarian" is not a product of some neo-nazi, "society" pontificating. One also finds the Bhuddist suttas quite non-commital about vegetarians leaving it to the individual to define for themselves. I prefer the term "strict" vegetarians as do those in other cultures who are as such, because that is what they are. BTW ... most fish kept as pets would be completely unsuitable as a meal. I know my tanks of riff-lake cichlids would agree.

As a flexitarian vegetarian . . . or simply as a vegetarian I eat fish or seafood approximately 3x's per week.
