I come from a long history of CAD sufferers. I am 25, and just had a complete cardiac workup (echo, 24 holter, 3 ekgs, 3 blood tests in 3 days, and a week of telemetry) due to my hr dropping to 39 bpm on a event recorder. They found that my heart goes fast at times, but nothing to worry about right now.
However, for weeks, no months, I have been getting a slight sharp chest pain on the left side above my breast. Doctors dont know what it could be, and do not want to do an angiogram because everything else looks good. I have slight MVP with slight regurgitation.
Does anyone know what can cause like a stabbing chest pain?

Being just 25, it's unlikely CAD causing your pain unless your family history is consistent with very premature CAD.
Usually pain that is very localized in one area would not be caused by the heart. Is there any pattern with your symptoms? Does it occur randomly, or with activity, after meals, etc. Does it hurt to push on that area?
Did they do a stress test on ya? That would be worth pursuing.
Also there is a test called a coronary CT scan, which might be a great test for you to ask about. It shows pictures of the arteries, like an angiogram, but is not invasive.
It's a relatively new test, so some insurance companies may not approve payment. Ask your doc about it to see if it's something you can have done.

Wow. It turns out like your describing some thing very similar to what I skilled as a child and on occasion as an grownup. I get the ones achy, sharp affliction in my chest / rib discipline. Often the affliction is moderate however typically it is so dangerous I can barley take a breath. It additionally feels love it begins on the backside of my rib cage after which travels up my aspect because it slowly is going away. I was once instructed through my surgeon it was once "developing" pains. Then while I was once older, I introduced it up once more and he mentioned it might be a muscle junk mail. It's been months seeing that I've had one. With me, the affliction best final a couple of seconds and on the such a lot a minute or 2. They additionally best appear to occur a few times in an afternoon while i do have them. I could recommend that in the event that they arise extra usually, more than one instances in an afternoon I'd see any one approximately it. It might be not anything or it might be some thing (type of seen reply).

I would push the doctors to do the agiogram. I passed the EKG and the treadmill stress test, but I was not satisfied not knowing what was causing the discomfort in my chest.
My doctor sent me to a cardiologist for an angiogram and, after that test, he had me in for bypass surgery on an asap basis.
My pain, however, was not the same as you describe. It was not stabbing, it was more of a cramp-like feeling in my heart area. I had my pain when I was exerting myself, such as walking the dogs, etc. The pain stopped as soon as I stopped walking.

you know its so interesting to listen to people. i work in the healthcare profession, and i always tell my patients that they know their bodies better than me, and you know whats normal for you and what isnt. if you are having that sneaking suspicion that something just isnt right, get a second opinion, especially with your fam history. also why is your heart rate dropping that low??? how low is it going during the time you are asleep???go to another doc.good luck and may God be with you.
