Yes - and it's delicious with some guacamole and sour cream. "Yum, yum"! he exclaimed. "I could eat a slew of them."

The shells used are the same, fillings are not. Chimichangas do not generally have beans nor cheese in them; burritos usually do. The meats used for filling also have differences in the spices and methods of cooking. Chimichangas have bay leaves and more cumin added while the meat is slow simmered. Meat for burritos is generally marinated for at least twelve hours in a mixture containing oregano and then grilled, cooled, and sliced. Chimichangas can also be baked successfully.

Tortilla Casserole Ingredients 6 soft tortillas 1 lb ground beef 1 (1 1/4 ounce) package taco seasoning mix 1 cup sour cream 1 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup water 2 cups grated cheddar cheese 2 (8 ounce) cans refried beans Directions 1 Fry ground beef and onions until meat is cooked through. 2 Add taco seasoning and water and cook until thickened. 3 Line the pan or casserole dish with 3 tortillas, then layer with 1/2 of the meat, 1/2 of the beans, 1/2 of the sour cream and 1/2 of the cheese. 4 Repeat. 5 If you like it spicy, then top it with some hot sauce or salsa. 6 Bake at 350 until bubbly (about an hour). 7 *Leftovers?: after baking, place in rigid container and seal with a lid (and plastic wrap if desired). Place in freezer. When ready to eat, thaw, place in baking dish, and reheat in 400 degree oven for 30 minutes.

yes it is !
and you can make them with just about any thing,
the important thing about the filling's are that they
1-be semi dry
2-contain all seasoning desired
3-what you most like fried
even though the filling's are not of a fried nature,it's to assume the taste of the fried tortilla will give it that effect,
my favorite's (filling's ) are
refried bean's with chorizo (mexican)
carne asada
ham
any leftover pork
cheese ( i freeze-mine to allow browning )
spaghetti (yea ! add some cheese)
leftover's are the WORD HERE!
anything wrapped in a burrito can be fried !
try shrimp, chicken,beef,egg's,tuna surprize !!
TRY THIS!
well that was the easy part!
now go to your topping's
SIDE'S ARE EASY................!
sour cream
salsa's
hot sauce's
guacamole (s)
even packaged dip mix's are good !
ketchup even !!
go crazy and try a little of whatever ( i guess chimichangas sounded better than whatever's ? )
simple,simple , siiiiiiiimple !!!!!
