I support the American Chestnut Foundation. An estimated 6 billion American Chestnut Trees were wiped out of this country in just a few years due to the chestnut blight, a fungus brought into this country by well intentioned but careless environmentalist.
Imagine how much carbon could be removed from the air if we put the effort into getting these trees growing again. It would be better than banning incandescent light bulbs.
Do your part. Please support this fine organization.

I do my best to educate those around me, have been accused of preaching too much, actually. I don't mind as I know I am relaying worthwhile information. I practice the three Rs dogma on a regular basis.
I am an alternative energy researcher and developer. I am in the process of of implimenting a aquaculture station that is self sustaining and has zero environmental impact, the excess nutrients and nitrates are collected and used as fertilizer. I have rescued wiring and copper tubing from demo projects underway in my area that would have been buried. I feed the neighborhood kids organic meals when they are around playing with my children, hence educating them in the area of nourishment and how it need not come out of a box or a can which originated two or three thousand miles away.I am a locavore have been most of my life, ninety percent of my food stuffs come from my locale, some from the woods and others from the waters that are within close proximity to my location.
Looking back I really haven't DONE anything but live my life, business as usual, that is the way I was raised and it takes no conscious effort to do so.

Ways I've gone green:
1.) Well, we've recycled for years, but I've tried to ramp it up some lately (I was excited to see that we're going to start recycling steel in 2008 according to the town flyer I just got today.)
2.) I've also switched a lot of my lights to CFL's (30ish),
3.) put a heat diverter on my electric dryer for the winter,
4.) I am working on getting my old solar heating system on my house working again (I've only owned the house a year, but it's been here more than 20, and failed a few years ago.)
5.) Even though my wife and I both drive larger vehicles for various reasons (including 4 children) we bought the mini-van with the optional eco setting, reducing it to 3 cylinders when conditions permit, and I've adjusted my driving habits, coming off the highway to work in the morning, I "coast" 6/10ths of a mile alone, I also try to keep my tires inflated, keep up on my oil changes, etc.
6.) I'd love to find more ways to reduce my "grid" energy use, and have investigated daylighting, solar hot-water, on-demand hot-water, e-barrier paint, solar exhaust fans, regular exhaust fans to reduce load on A/C, would love to install geothermal (if I could afford, but again, 4 kids. :) )
Biggest problems with any of the things I'd love to do, geo-thermal, wind, solar PV, solar hot-water, daylighting, etc, money. Any suggestions on ways to get that paid for pre, rather than post (besides CitizenRe which seems to be a bit of a farse?)

Use Public transport for longer distances.
Use my car sparingly.
Encourage Organic
No Packaged food or water.
These are some other than energy conservation etc.
These are some of the things.

I have broke down everything that can be recycled, I stoped useing allot of harsh air borne cleaners, I give my scrap foods to my chickens/pigs/ducks and in return i get a naturally rich furtilizer so I don't have to buy any harsh furtilizer for my gardens in the spring. Just a few things.

I use public transportation.. and energy efficient light bulbs. I cannot replace my V6 car with a hybrid cause it would be too expensive and I don't drive much anyway.
