If a person is not having a complete diet, he will look pale and thin....doesn't matter he is a vegetarian or non vegetarian. If you take a balanced veg diet, you will look not only so healthy physically but also spiritually which is not possible with a non veg diet.

I like how you said MOST vegetarians, and then "just wondering" as an after comment. Shows that you might not know MOST vegetarians. I might show my ignorance by assuming that your exposure to vegetarians is probably limited to only knowing one or two from school. And as you can see from the answers you are getting, that MOST vegetarians are not pale and unhealthy (even Maggie is just pale and thin, not unhealthy).

Hopefully now you are a little more educated about vegetarians and that we can be all colors/races and shapes, and yes maybe some of us are pale and thin, and perhaps we can even be robust and ruddy. Or if we are blessed with good genetics, we can have beautiful complexion and be trim/vivacious (or whatever your image of health is for a male/female body).

Food is food. It can come from many sources. Plants can be one way to go. Did you ever wonder how come we need meat to grow big and look healthy, when the cow you eat is an herbivore and gets that big just by eating grass and oats? Then of course, a cow does not eat processed food (some do and the chance to get mad cow disease from eating its own processed cow parts) and that is what we should be learning from them. Eat whole grains, vegetables, fruits, and not processed foods to be healthy!

"Most"??? I wonder how many you know..

Many people want to be vegetarian for various reasons, and that's admirable, but many don't educate themselves on basic nutrition... THey turn to a diet of junk food, or they go too extreme (oils are evil...etc..) and don't get enough natural fats...

Vegetarian diet is much healthier than a meat eating diet, IF DONE RIGHT... maybe the 1 or 2 vegetarians you know (if you knew more than that I am sure you would have seen that most are not pale or thin) didn't do it right.

Just guessing

vegetarian for 17 years.. NOT thin.. healthy as a horse..proud auntie to a completely vegan 3 year old neice that is tall for her age (very tall) husky, beautiful, and the picture of health..

How many do you actually know? I hate when this question comes up because I highly doubt anyone asking it knows enough vegetarians to make a generalization about the millions of us worldwide. I'm not thin (bordering on overweight, thank you very much) and I'm not pale. I'm not sickly or weak, either. All it takes is one to prove that your "rule" is wrong.

If going omni is so healthy, why do most omnis look pimply and fat?

Just wondering.

Do you see how that absurd logic carries over? I'll take a leap of faith and assume you haven't met all vegetarians, so how would you know what most of them look like. Using a low-end guess of the U.S. vegetarian population, 1 person in every 50 is vegetarian. I would be willing to bet that if you grouped 50 random people... you wouldn't be able to spot the vegetarian. I'm not pale, and I'm not thin. Do yourself a favor and try to avoid placing ill-conceived stereotypes on millions of people.

so many people these days are not healthy that when you actually come across a healthy looking person it's a big shock to you. it all has to do with who you are comparing. are you obese and have horrible sun burnt skin? ..maybe someone who is really average size is considered “thin/too thin” COMPARED to YOU, but in reality he/she is healthy and is at a good size for their age and height. skin color is genetic, it is something that was determined when you were in your mommy‘s stomach, it‘s something that sticks with you for life. someone's way of eating/diet won't change their color(well nothing drastic..nothing like going from tan to pale--it is something that just won'ttt happen through food...) what a healthy diet CAN do to your skin is clear it, soften it and make it look much more alive. saying that "vegetarians are pale and thin" is just as wrong as saying "all cheerleaders are blonde and dumb"..it's not true. maybe SOMETIMES, but definitely nottt always. it is never fair or right to shove a group of people who have a similar passion, hobby or belief into ONE group that determines who they are as a person or what they look like. you have to learn that everyone is different and a stereotype will never be right no matter how hard you try...good luck with your life&i hope you open up your eyes and stop stereotyping...xoxoxox♥

Quite a few people that decide to be vegetarian do not eat balanced diets, they just don't eat meat. Being thin is not unhealthy, its when a person is scrawny and weak looking that it is a problem.
Some people hide eating disorders by saying they are vegetarian, but there is a huge underlying problem, they are just using not eating certian foods as an excuse for eating very little, or nothing at all.

Let's not generalize here. Their pale skin and thinness can depend on a huge number of factors: genetics, diet, activeness, and many more. I've seen fat vegetarians (not to be blunt, or anything), thin vegetarians, dark, and light-toned veg*s. Everyone is different, so technically, it'd be improper to say that ALL veg*s are pale and thin.

And coolair, lyk srsly. die plz. -___-;

that coolair76 is wrong protien is not only found in meat. And no most vegetarians are not pale and thin. There are very few like that. And the few that are like that it is from not eating protien.

That's a stereotype that has no basis in fact.

I know fat vegetarians, muscular vegetarians and dark skinned vegetarians. Do you know any vegetarians or are you just repeating something you heard?

Lots of people say it isn't healthy to be vegetarian but none of those people have any education in nutrition, nor do they have any credentials to give dietary advice. They are just saying something they heard from their grandmothers, stand up comedians, or whatever.
