why do we need to develop non-conventional sources of energy?

There is a limited amount of oil and coal in the world. Eventually (although probably not terribly soon), it will run out. This is a problem not only in terms of energy, but also in terms of material goods because oil and natural gas are the feed stocks from which most of our plastic and many other products are made.

We need cleaner ways to give off energy. These cleaner ways will not produce carbon dioxide and, thus, create global warming. Our society of America is based off 70% coal, but coal is dirty and more expensive than nuclear- a cleaner form of energy. Each energy source has its pros and cons. I think that lessening use of energy expenditure will benefit us all; but, renewables would encourage us to use energy during days of sun and wind and when there isn't any, we would be doing other things...

The usage of natural resources is desparate today. The affects of which are going to be faced by the future generations who are going to curse their fore fathers or earlier generations.
