My husband and I drive 45 miles to work. He works across town. I have no vehicle, it's at work with him (he dropped me off this morning). I have no voice, an earache from heck, a sore throat and I am coughing things up. I have a chiropractor's appt. this afternoon that I probably shouldn't miss. (I normally speak with plenty of people on the phone every day, but I could use email.) What do you think I should do? It would be nice to get some rest and have a longer weekend, but I dont want to cut my husband's day short either. Should I schedule a doctor's appt.? They will probably just tell me to take hot showers to clear congestion and drink plenty of fluids. If anyone knows and remedies I can use here at work to make me a little more comfortable, I would appreciate them!

Hot tea, 2 aspirin or 2 Excedrin (they will make your body feel better.) Put heat on your ear if you can. The hand drier in the bathroom will work, if you have one. Have some soup for lunch or if nothing more Hot water . The heat will help warm your core and make you feel better. Drink a cup every hour or so.

Use the E-mail, save your voice. Do you work with other people, stay away from them if you do. Sharing sickness is not appreciated.

I too swear by the Chiropractor, but I doubt he or she will help this much. It just sounds like a rotten cold and ear infection.

To go home and have to drive back to get your Husband or for both of you to take off doesn't make sense. I'm sure you know by now you should have stayed home in bed. Try to stick it out. Maybe he can leave work an hour or two early to help you out.

Good Luck.

If I was in your situation I would go home and get some rest. You can try drinking some hot tea and taking some aspirin or ibuprofen to help with the pain but ultimately I think you're gonna wear yourself down by staying at work. It's not gonna hurt to see a doctor (especially since the weekend is coming up) so call your husband and have him come pick you up. Who knows, maybe he's looking for a good reason to start the weekend early.

I hope you feel better soon. Take care.

Mmm, sorry hun. I think you are being very nice to your husband, but as much as you love him you should know that he loves you too and that he will understand. I'm sure he'd like you stay safe and well. I think you should call him, and if you don't, why not call for a taxi? Well, honestly, i you live in the states cabs are pretty expensive so maybe a subway or a public transportation would be ok. And if not, still, call your husband.
If you plan on staying then why not get a warm hanky and put it on your forehead, drink lots of water or some tea and take an aspririne. Hope this helps.

Get well soon!

Can you take some tylenol or aspirin/ibuprofen/naproxen? Can you catch a taxi home? It sounds like you need to go home or take the rest of the day off...is there a way you could cut your day short, but just rest in a break room until your husband can pick you up? Or some place else where you could rest while waiting for him to get off work?

I don't know, but earaches can make you miserable and so can sore throats/colds and you have all of them....so I would be home in bed...can a neighbor or a relative pick you up and you pay them for gas?

Yes, leave. If you have something contagious, you could transmit it to others.
