With the introduction of both HD DVD and BLU RAY DVD which format do we think will take off and which will be left behind and also what format do we think is best. I am very undecided as both formats have excellent stats but one of them has to become the next betamax dont it?

VHS or Beta?
Then mini disc or DAT?
Now this. I think that this time, there is a chance for both of them to survive because they are divided generations-HD DVD for the oldies (ah-hemm) and blue ray for the ps3 lot...yeah I got one, I should grow up I know.
I hope there is enough space for both for once. PSP and Nintendo DS have done it. (Although psp is better!)
Time will tell. Good questions deserve a star.

Blu Ray will I think win through as it seems to have greater access to the movie libraries with its Sony backing.

Not buying at the moment waiting for the prices to tumble which is sure to happen once the weaker ones dies.

PS anyone want a beta max VCR really cheap and unique piece of technology sure to catch on.

Well, Sony supported Betamax and Sony supports Blu-Ray, so I think that answers your question...

I think both are wrong. Why can't we just have a digital download or something - why have a disk at all??
