Most men are like this and are very selfish people. Their lesson in life is to learn how to give and a women's lesson in life is to learn that she can survive on her own without a male partner. But yes its ugly to see these men who are very much "ME" orientated and suggest to look for one that knows how to give.

guys aren't the only ones guilty of this either. I've met a few girls with a me first attitude.

It depends on the person. I think everyone has that attitude at first, but when you enter into a relationship that is hopefully heading somewhere you had better make sure both people have a "relationship first, you second" attitude.

I assume you mean while dating? It's because they view a date like a job interview. First, they are there to see if they want to continue dating you. Once they've decided they do want to take you out again, they start going on about themselves to assure you that they are the "right guy for the job." They wouldn't get a job if they didn't big note themselves, and they approach a date the same way. It's a shame their parents didn't teach them the difference.

Because for a long time chivalry was our way of saying we want you to be first, and over time it has come to be expected. Now if we actually have a problem and need to focus on ourselves, we get questions like this one.

It's not gender specific. Many people, men and women, have that 'me first' attitude. It's the way they were brought up; overindulged, every whim catered to, never required to take responsibility for their actions. Welcome to today's society. You want to fix it? Teach your children to take responsibility for their actions.
