we brought our kids high tech walkie talkies and they picked up a man who said he will find out where they live and come to their house and get them ,,,,, they freaked out and are scared to go on them again,
is it possible to be traced?, or are they just stuffing around scaring my kids?

it's a good few years since i "modulated" but i see the idiots are still about!!-well for one tell your kids this idiot is full of hot-air-the airwaves are full of muppets who take great pleasure from upsetting little kiddies who are only trying to enjoy a new medium (to them-CB has been around for over thirty years now). so next time take the mic from your kiddie and tell the nonce to go swing and change channels.
an experienced CB enthusiast could locate your "20" (place from where you are transmitting) by careful observation of his signal meter AS LONG AS YOU KEEP TRANSMITTING-if you stop transmitting you can still listen to the tosser but he will not find you-moreover this is a classic wind-up because as most CBer's know if you want to find someone -you don't key the mic-you just home in on their signal-so i wouldn't worry too much.

It's pretty easy to find a general close location to a person you are talking to on a CB radio. Most likely the guy is just trying to scare the kids. Some people are very mean on the air. I wouldn't worry too much but be cautious.
I would get the guys handle/name and report him to your local authorities. There is no reason for people to act this way and in my mind it's illegal to threaten anybody.

To track a kid's walkie-talkie would require equipment and manpower, both of which would be prohibitively expensive for meaningful justification.
No, he not only can't trace them, he's a pathetic idiot who gets his jollies scaring kids. Tell your kids to enjoy themselves.

I can't help, but laugh!! Poor kiddies!!!
He won't be able to find them!! We used to play (ok I still do!!) with thing like them all the time!! I can't remember the amount of threats I received.
Turn the walkies on and get Mr Rockmum or you to tell him off!! It is probably some fat old man with nothing better to do!!
Other than that, invest in an alarm system??

Most likely they do not have the tracking equipment to enable them to pinpoint a radio signals origion. Governing bodies do (FCC in USA). If you are from the USA that person has just commited a crime.
