i work in an international call center. I am a benefit specialist for a magor credit card company. why do people feel the have the right to use profanity while specking with someone who is maybe not telling them what they want to hear, or fixing a problem fast enough for there liking. i was not raised like that and do not understand it.

p.s. doest everyone know also that all i have to do is click the release button on the screen and they will have to start from square one?

HA!

When people get frustrated, sometimes they vent their frustration in inappropriate ways.

OK' I don't mean to jump on you. You asked a question and i am going to tell you the truth. Most times when i call one of these places for help i usually wind up with someone that i don't understand because the call was routed to some call center in India or some far flung country. Half the time you can't get them to understand what your trying to tell them. They either act dumb or just don't get what i am saying. It's very frustrating.
Then you have these that call while you are busy with something ' they are trying to sell something after i have already told them numerous times that i am not interested. They just keep calling 2 or 3 times a week sometimes the same person. After a while one starts to think there retarded or something because the don't seem to know what "I am not interested" means. After about a month of being pestered at my supper table i lose it and tell the idiot what i think of the company and being pestered by them. I know most of these company's record the in and out going conversations. So sometimes i think cussing them out will make them go away. And it has worked. To be honest i wouldn't have your job. I do understand that your only doing your job. But i don't want to be pestered by you or any other type. Call center or telemarketer. And' If i call a call center about something it would be nice if they knew the language. English!! {Edit} Hey' I did read the whole thing just like every one else. What i am trying to get across to you- you are proving for me. The people at call centers never understand what the other person is trying to tell them. It doesn't matter what you do. It doesn't matter if it is inbound or out bound calls. Credit card or what ever. People hate trying to talk to people that work at these places. It's a pain in the a-s-s trying to talk to these people. That's why i said i wouldn't have your job. You are one of the most dreaded persons to have to talk to by the general public. That's why your not getting very many here to go along with what your saying. And' If anyone looks like a dumb a-s-s it's you because your proving my point. You don't get it why people get aggravated with you and say bad things to you. when people here are telling why.

I understand how you feel. I worked at a couple of call centers. If you aren't speeding up the process people get angry because you are taking up their time as well. I sold pet insurance to people verifying credit cards. Do you know how many stupid people fell for that? I try to be as polite as I can. Also, talk a little faster. I learned that from a friend who sold the same thing and made mad cash from it. You could also try to sound bored, my friend did that as well.

i used to work in a call center and i dont cuss at them when they call me

i kindly say
listen--- sweetie- i used to work in a call center just like yours and understand this is what you do for a living so i hope you have good luck on the next call but i am not interested---

they have cussed at me
slammed the phone at me
and they have continued to pitch me even

after i repeatedly am nice rather than cuss and hang up on them

oh wait i see the end of your question

you are one of the nasty ones if you felt the need to add the last bit-- it shows a controlling mentality

in that case
upgrade yourself and yourlife

bc you very well with that mentality could be the reason that people get nasty

also
bc there credit is personal and serious for them
and you clearly dont take customer service seriously!

I don't cuss them out, but I do get very irritated when the person has some accent I can't understand because the company that employs them wants to save money by outsourcing. It's also annoying when it's obvious they are following some stupid flowchart and really have no idea what your problem is and can't be of any help anyway. I'm sure there are similar issues with your customers. Eventually the caller just gets sick of all the crap they have to deal with to get their problem solved and their patience wears thinner and thinner. Some people don't have much to begin with.

Also, I suspect that if you clicked "release" too often you problem wouldn't be keeping your job, right?
