I have a very long list of books and would like to make it easier to follow along to the right to see the information. I high lighted every other line with a light grey, but if I add cells (which I will do as I get new books) it messes the whole thing up. Is there an easier way to do this?

use conditional formatting with formula
=MOD(ROW(),2)=0
that should be all you need

if you want the click by click:
-highlight all your column data
-click Format
-click conditional formatting...
-in condition 1 box click formula is
--in the formula box use the formula
=MOD(ROW(),2)=0
-click format...
-click patterns
-pick your color
-click ok ok

now you should be able to add rows in the middle, and the colors should automatically adjust.
hope this helps, more importantly...enjoy your books.

in a long list you can use filters. insert a column for sl. no. on left. filter with required sl. no. you will see only required row.
