Its either a nervous condition to which case she will need to get some medication for it from the vet or its an allergy to some food.... you will need to try an elimination process, start with fish - fish is the most common thing that cats can be allergic to. hope this helps

My cat has this same problem right now. It doesn't sound as bad as your cat's but it is in the same area.
The very first thing they said was to give flea treatment because that is the easiest solution. Basically they want to eliminate every easy possibility before going on to more difficult ones.
He didn't have fleas.
Next they prescribed a pill. I forget exactly what for, but they thougnt it might be an allergy. After the pill ran out, we dind't notice any change.
Third, they said it could be his anal glands. Cats apparently sometimes need their anal glands "cleaned out" or it gets clogged upa nd is uncomfortable to them, so they lick the area. We thought this solved the problem, but a month later, still licking back there.
So now we're going for the final testing..the skin testing. I think it may be ring worm because I've had a few ringworm patches pop up on me lately, and I don't know where else I could be getting them.
Hope this helps and good luck!

you relatively p.c. to flow to the vet for an examination. there are a number of dermis problems that look comparable yet have very distinctive remedies. If the vet can not stumble on the subject by means of sight, they could do a dermis scrape to examine for mites, look decrease than a wood's Lamp (like a black gentle) to seek for fungal infections, or perhaps do a DTM custom to be certain what's inflicting the hair loss. on account which you suggested which you had a flea subject, and there is hair loss and scabbing, it sounds like Flea hypersensitivity Dermatitis. some cats are greater laid low with fleas than others, and can get allergies while fleas bite them. that's straightforward to handle with flea administration meds and doubtless a cortisone injection. besides the shown fact that... there are some different issues that must be happening. The components of the physique which you point out the hair loss on are in lots of situations sites the place cats lose hair with the aid of rigidity. Your cat can even have mites or mange, (person-friendly to handle with medicine or a particular medicated bath.) She can even have ringworm, it is transmissable to people. it may additionally be an allergic reaction. Many cats have hair loss with the aid of hypersensitive reactions to food or something of their surroundings, (carpet shampoo, laundry detergent, and so on...) maximum of those problems are person-friendly to handle as quickly as the vet diagnoses it. besides the shown fact that that's amazingly no longer person-friendly to self-diagnose and self handle. Get your cat to the vet ASAP. :)

Food allergies did this to one of our cats, it took a long while to find a food he could eat without problems.
One flea can cause this on a cat who is highly allergic to fleas, as well.
Your vet is the best resource for you right now.

It's not normal for cats to scratch, unless they have fleas or ticks.
Go to your vet and buy Advantage, Frontline or Revolution.
The problem should get better in about 2-6 days.

Taking her to the vet "soon"? What does that mean? She's already suffered to the point where she has no hair on "both sides of her back" - are you waiting until she's completely bald? Is that when being a responsible owner kicks in?

If you feed her cheap food she could be allergic. I would try feeding her Nutro natural choice. It doesnt have fillers or by products and has the essential oils to keep her skin and hair healthy.
