The information is lost.
When any game in PS3 saves data, it decides what it wants to put in the file, compiles it to a save-file, and compresses it.
This all happens in RAM.
When the system shuts down, the save-information from RAM dies immediately. Since the PS3 does not have an intermediate flash-memory buffer (some laptop hard drives do), the data is gone.
The PS3 thinks that it wrote the information, because it created the file. However, it diddnt have time to write the file to the hard disk, and corrupted your data by cutting power while it was writing information - the reading head spewed magnetic data all over your drive as the head disengaged from the platters. This might sound stupid, but it keeps you from killing the drive. This way, you can restore your drive and restart from some point, as opposed to having a physically damaged device that needs to be repaired.
The "memory card" was on the disk, and when you restored it, you deleted everything on it.

Sorry dude, but that's why it says dont turn it off. At least your PS3 can still play the game, and diddnt destroy itself. If it had been a pc and you pulled the plug, you might have lost a lot more.

As for getting back to where you were, see if a friend also beat the game on his or her PS3, if so you can copy the save file onto a flashdrive and put it on yours in a matter of seconds.

Good luck, man.

i think of theres a fashion under device settings which will nonetheless replica that stuff...it in simple terms wont replica the stuff secure by applying copyrights n junk...the backup application says it quite is going to b/u the whol HD onto a storage media and in case you restore on the comparable device, it restores all, yet once you restore on a distinctive one, it wont restore some issues...i havent had a gamble to apply this yet...reliable success i'm hoping it facilitates

Nothing can be done. That's why there is a message not to shut it down during the saving process.
