My friends and I have a ride that we host weekly in the San Fernando Vally. We want to build a stereo so we can play music for our rides, but we can't find an amp.

What are your own rules? Want to have the bike power the stereo? Get a hub generator -- or a generator that rubs the tire and you have to ride at a pace high enough to play tuneage. Use low voltage ala iPod stuff mount it on your bike rack, trailer, or backpack.

In the most recent Seagull Century (5,300 riders), there was a group who made a trailer out of an old plastic cooler. They mounted a boom box in the cooler and cut openings in the side in front of the speakers. I don't know if they took turns pulling the trailer behind their bikes or if one rider pulled it the entire distance.

A simpler way would be to find one of those Burley child trailers and just strap a boom box into it. You might be able to find an old trailer (too nasty to put kids into) or someone may have one for sale after their kids grew out of it.

I pods come with lots of cute type portable speakers. I have a dog for my jog. Simply tape dog to handle bars (Note: Don't try this with the bounty hunter as he will set Beth on you) and plug your IPod in (Really don't try this with the bounty hunter).

sony has some small speakers that use batteries so they are amplified. that probably all you need, otherwise, if you get something really loud it will look like an escalade riding on 700c
