I don't see how this can be a rhetorical question even if I meant for it to be. No, it's not. =)

Some people wouldn't know a rhetorical question if it came up, tapped them on the shoulder and said, 'Excuse me, but I'm a rhetorical question' (as exemplified by some here saying this Q is rhetorical!)

Occasionally someone says at the outset that they're asking a rhetorical q and they do it for good reasons, some of which could be:

To pose a threatening issue in a non-threatening way.
To encourage answers from those who would feel compromised getting involved in a real situation.
To avoid appearing as if they (the asker) were involved in a real situation.
To make others think in a fresh way about a logical difficulty.
To point out a logical absurdity that is not normally apparent.

Rhetoric is a dying art-form. Long live the askers of rhetorical questions!

It may seem rhetorical to you but the poster may be quite serious and wanting to learn from others. We don't know the mindset of those who post here and we shouldn't judge the questions unless we know the person and their purpose.

Annoying.
Depends on the (rhetorical) question, I guess.

Alright the first three answers stole my answer. =]

But seriously, I think it's wonderful. Sometimes, maybe one in ten or twenty questions, I get a question that really makes me think. I cherish those questions, rhetorical or not. =]

Isn't your question rhetorical?
Sorry, I should have been less direct in my answer.
