Indeed it is. Provide no product or service other than empty promises and false claims, take in enormous amounts of money, pay no taxes. You're constitutionally protected against government regulation of any kind but government actively promotes your business.
It's the ultimate scam and it's perfectly legal!

You don't know the half if it.
Religions are organized as not for profit corporations and do not pay taxes. No income tax, no property tax. They amass tremendous wealth and are utterly unaccountable.
The IRS does not oversee the books of the Not for Profit like a regular business.
Owners of the church are not required to pay income tax on all of the benefits that they bestow upon themselves.
They can lie about their product and are not held accountable. They can defraud consumers but are not held accountable.
That's probably enough for now.

A business provides something useful, or at least tangible, in exchange for the money it takes in. Religion doesn't meet that criterion. It's not the perfect business, it's the perfect rip off.

There's good money to be made from religion IF you can keep a straight face.

It's the ONLY scam that's legal AND subsidised by all rate-payers ... religious businesses don't pay Property Tax and many other taxes ALL other business have to pay.
