This question is mostly directed at Christians since they are making the biggest stink about the books/movie. If you are of another religion then please give your thoughts as well.

Understandably, if you are a parent and you don't want to allow your child to watch the movie then that is your right. This question is directed at people who think the movie should not be viewed by anyone.

Why is it okay for Christians to put out movies out like The Chronicles Of Narnia and Passion Of The Christ, but not okay for an atheist to make a movie which supports atheism? We live in a country where everybody has the right to speak their minds and believe in anything they want to. Why is that right being opposed?

And I've heard some people say that the movie is a sort of wolf in sheep's clothing in terms of "tricking" children into viewing an atheist movie. If that is true then isn't Narnia guilty of the same thing. Nobody made a fuss when that movie came out.

Lynn C: You were quick to cast judgment but you didn't mention why Christianity is allowed to make religious movies/books directed at children. What do you say about movies and books like Narnia and Passion of the Christ? Why are they okay but not the Golden Compass?

shaolt2002: You got me. I will admit that I do get a commission for every person I can get to buy a ticket for the movie. When you view or answer this question your IP address gets sent to an atheist data base, at which point your home address is matched to your DMV record. Then, using identity matching software the image captured by movie theater cameras is compared to your DMV record. After confirmation has been established the movie theater and production company wire the commission to my bank account. How did you find out about this? You sneaky dog you.

Lilli: That's an attitude I can respect. And I agree that not all Christians are opposed to this movie. In fact, I went to see it with a group of Christians that had the same outlook you do.

And for anybody that was offended by this question keep in mind that I specifically stated "This question is directed at people who think the movie should not be viewed by anyone." If you are a Christian that does not feel this way stop getting all huffy and puffy.

While I am a Christian, I believe that it's just a movie. If your faith is so weak that you believe that it will turn you away from your faith then you should probably not see it and you should probably examine your faith.

That being said I find it funny that the atheist's on here are having such a hissy fit because some Christian groups called for a boycott of this movie, yet when the Passion of the Christ and the Chronicles of Narnia came out it was atheist's that were calling for boycotts and the banning of those movies.

I am a firm believer in if you don't want to watch it then don't, but I do find it amusing that one group gets upset with another when group b uses the same tactic as group a.

needless to say if human beings carry to a cheished perception and it quite is attacked then they might not be vulnerable to help it. people who're announcing that is in basic terms a action picture probable at the instant are not retaining solid perspectives of Christianity. If some thing they have been into grew to become into attacked they might probable not choose for to help it the two. i desperate this week that i would not spend money to work out the Golden Compass. no person instructed me to try this it grew to become into my own determination. If yet another Christian is going to work out the action picture this is as much as her or him. i would not tell them they could desire to not see it. i might in basic terms tell them what i understand approximately it. this could be a topic remember for a man or woman's very own conviction because of the fact the Bible would not restrict a beliver from seeing movies often. they could desire to evaluate extra. I relatively have examine a number of articles approximately it and seen the promo (the 1st 5 minutes) and that i understand adequate to renowned what it quite is approximately. Animals are referred to as demons interior the hollow intro of the action picture. Animals that are depicted as pets or friends are being handed as as a demon which might make youthful childern greater accepting of the belief of demons. If there is an prepared boycott so what? Is there not freedom of the click and freedom to not partake in a number of that press additionally? If this action picture isn't a huge financially grossing photograph then that is going to convince some action picture manufacturers to not make those varieties of videos. I in basic terms wish people who boycott have their very own pesonal information with regard to the action picture in any different case they gained't look that rational to protest some thing they won't comprehend.

OK here we go again generalizing, so wrong in so many ways.
How dare u judge me, u don't want me to judge u, but u make statements saying we do this or we do that, u don't know what I do, or don't do, I never saw the Golden Compass, but if u have seen any movies u know there r more movies against God, Christians and Faith in God than any other genre.
Si Fi, Mysteries, Horror etc, so many talk of the lameness of God, and how He doesn't protect His followers, where as the devil rewards his followers with power to destroy believers.
Open ur eyes I have never protested a movie, although I heard a lot of people Christians as well as non-Christians put down Harry Potter as a movie Christians shouldn't watch, If a movie comes on & i don't want to see it I just don't go to see it.
Just like something on TV I don't want to see, I change the chanle, or turn it off.

Yup...the Lion in Chronicles of Narnia was an allegory for Jesus, yet you didn't hear any Christians complain because the Lion defeats the evil witch in the end.

This question will probably be removed shortly. Mine did!

Because they are a bunch of hypocrites with a martyr complex.

This is just those who actively want to block this from the public forum. Most Christians are O.K.

Lets face it, the movie did poorly and you are just trying to get attention focused on it so people will go see it. It was a flop. I have not seen any Christian campaign against this movie, but only atheists SAYING there were Christian campaigns. No one is interested in that movie so give it up.
