just wondering.
i mean...
not ALL Atheists, Christians, Muslims...
think anything.
and it just starts arguments.
and why are some Christians willing to say "You are going to hell!" that has to get annoying.
and why do some Christians say Atheists are terrible?
ignorance. is what i think.
what do you think?

Well I think most people make generalizations because they do not know much about another religion, philosophy, etc. Secondly I think most folks do not really give answer all that much thought or attention, for most it is simply a fun way to pass some time. Finally I truely believe most people do not get specific because they do not wish to offend or be offended by others, but I guess all three of those reasons are just generalizations!

I think it ok to make generalizations as long as they are true.

For example, "in general, most men have more upper body strength than women."

This is a true statement that you cannot argue with. In general.

I think it's bad to lump all Christians and all Atheists into one boat, since we are so vastly different.

Oh, and I have yet to see a Christian say that "you are going to hell." Perhaps you could provide a link?

I agree with you, I think it is sad how everybody forgets the story about the good Samaritian. The 'going to hell" thing is getting kind of boring, first I've would have to belief in one in order to have that statement make an impact on me, and only because I am not Christian doesn't make me a bad person.

Some generalizations are true. There is a difference between stating an absolute (all Christians are dumb) which is inevitably untrue, and making a generalization (atheists are sarcastic) which may or may not be true *in general*.

I think that making generalizations about people is a mistake.

I try to remember that not all Christians say, "You are going to hell". I don't. And I also try to keep in mind that I know people who are Atheist that are good people. ...Blessings!

The weaker the argument the more likely we will throw in a generalisation. It is often used by those who try to incite hatred against a particular section of society.

On the real...its an epidemic bashing the shores of humanity's core.

But...then again, we are all just human, and still walking the marvelous path of life...which is guaranteed many obstacles, and many mistakes.

Bright Journey to you.
