I have honey colored oak cabinets. I realize that reds would look good but I don't really want red. I was thinking of doing a cobalt blue theme...maybe with lime accents. I am not sure how that would look with those colored cabinets. So what color do you all think would look stunning with honey oak cabinets? Not just blues...any colors. If you are a professional-please state that when answering. Thanks!!!

The trick in finding a great color to go with your cabinets is on the color wheel. So if your cabinets are honey oak find what the inherent color is on the wheel. I would guess a orangy yellow. To find your color options stay within one-eighth of that orangy-yellow or within one eighth of orangy-yellow's complimentary color.
So maybe an orangish color or a blueish-purply color.
Then play with the value level (lighter or darker).
Color theories can be worked out on paper but once you are applying that color in a particular space you will need to weigh out how your different color choices effect that space.
A darker cooler color might open the space up because they tend to have receeding qualities. A complimentary color of the same value as the cabinets will fight for focus.
And the available lighting will effect how the space is shaped too.

I recently had a designer come to my house to help me pick out paint colors. My kitchen furniture is all honey color so I assumed I should go with a warm color but I was wrong.
You are on the right track with the cool colors as they will not blend in with your cupbourd and make them pop. She recommended this great green - mid toned - almost like a dark olive color and my kitchen looks fantastic! I highly recommend it. Green is easier to work with accenting wise for a kitchen then a blue too.

cobalt blue might be great! i would also encourage you to to consider something in the green family. maybe a mid-tone spring green.it would be fresh, current, and enhance the color of your cabinets.

How about turquoise or aqua and lime accents, or
sky blue and leaf green?
