The reason the church as outlasted ALMOST any other institution is because the leaders of governments, tribes, ect, found out that it is a useful tool in controlling the populous. Also, the "church" in the loosest sense, has been around since the first primitive being, looked out and could not comprehend the world around him. There for he found a belief base that did nothing more than to help him cope with, or take his mind off these baffling happenings.
Though Neither the bible(or any other book of belief) or science can dis/prove the existence of an omnipresent entity
The history of religion and the world can. Folks, do a little research. You can find out what I mean. I'm not talking about reading the bible or something of that exstent. I am talking about reading a history book, or a book about theology learn the past, learn what purpose "god" has held in history.
As far the arguing between x-tians and atheists goes. When people stop trying to force their beliefs on others there there will be no need for argument.

A theist is a person who believes there is a god. An atheist is a person who is not a theist. I simply lack belief in one (3?) more god(s) than you do.
I don't know of any atheists who claim they can prove that an under-defined generic god doesn't exist. If I met any I'd call them out for being illogical.
However, Yahweh can be proved to not exist in the same way you can prove that a square circle doesn't exist..because it has attributes that are contradictory.
Epicurus disproved the possibility of an all-loving, all-knowing and all-powerful god co-existing with evil in the world well before the New Testament was written.
“The gods can either take away evil from the world and will not, or, being willing to do so cannot; or they neither can nor will, or lastly, they are able and willing. If they have the will to remove evil and cannot, then they are not omnipotent. If they can but will not, then they are not benevolent. If they are neither able nor willing, they are neither omnipotent nor benevolent.. Lastly, if they are both able and willing to annihilate evil, why does it exist? ” -Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-270 BCE)
And I have been saying for quite awhile now that I will let up on the Christians, a little, once they have Psalms 14:1 removed from their Bibles.

I feel science can prove that "beings" are an intelligent design. Everything that "lives" is very complex, and even science, in order to propagate life, needs some kind of substance that already has life in it, DNA or whatever.
Science can not take a stone, by itself, and make life out of it. The Lord says that if he wanted creatures that, just offer burnt sacrifices, He could make a stone into that. But that requires "proof", so a moot point.
Science can prove that Life cannot be created from stone or inert gasses, but to use that information to prove Creation, would mean there was a Creator, which people will argue about.
Not everyone likes the truth.

O.K. Satan get away from me.
Science can not prove or disprove God's existence because he does exist. When a spirit in human form comes to this world and in 33 short years transforms the world by giving it a religion that has out lasted all other religions. That's proof enough for me!
The Bible does not have to prove anything. It is there and everything that is written has withstood the test of time. That's proof enough for me. The Bible is applicable today as it was when it was first written. Oh, yes, it was written by mortals but those mortal had wisdom beyond their years. Their insight was awesome.
Atheists can come join the truth or die in ignorance. It's their choice. By the way I think you forgot one ZERO. The topic has been around for 2000 not 200 years.

Science says that you need evidence to say something exists.
The evidence needs to be observable, objective and repeatable.
For science, God does not exist because of these facts.
As for Fanatical Athiests (another religion) and Christians, proof is irrelevant. Science requires that you make a test and base your belief on the results of the test. Which is what neither side does.
Also christianity requires a belief in God that can not be tested (you shall not put the Lord, thy God to the test).
Sooooo.............I don't really care that much, but I am of the science school and haven't seen the evidence for God (so I am an agnostic...meaning I don't really know if God exists)

That's what is great about faith. As long as Christians believe in their faith, they can never be touched by science, skeptics, or hard-headed Atheists. But, once they bring their faith into science (ie. creationism) they are subject to the scrutiny of science concerning the idea of God or intelligent creation not in conformity to fact and verified data. I think the conflict you are referring to may be the irrational of both parties finding a style of thought that brings them comfort and satisfaction, and seeing the opposite as the antithesis and inferior of that satisfaction and therefore not tolerated. Although I never could understand why a religious man would want to prove the existence of God, if they were to succeed, would that not undermine the concept of faith, and as a result, religion?

Science has done a great job of proving God's existence to me. No one individual, group, or living entity has yet to create any type of life from an inanimate objects or objects. The only response I ever get to this is cloning and in that case the life is created from another life form. To me, since science does not have the ability to create any sort of life, not even a single cell organism, only a higher power could have accomplished such an amazing feat to kick start the lives that we have all come to live.

They are gonna keep arguing that God does not exist. I'd like atheists to give me proof that He doesn't! And an atheist will say:I'd like to see proof that He does". It is just a back and forth thing and nobody knows anything excepts what we choose to believe...

WRONG, the topic is far older than 200 years. Not that I can prove it but I am willing to argue the point.
It's a lot easier to argue this point than do what God asks.
