I was just watching one of those stage mom reality shows...it was boring but nothing else was on. Anyways while they were showing these girls (ages 2-12) in the competition I was shocked when I heard one of the moms say there was a swimsuit competition. I was expecting these little girls to come out in a one piece bathingsuit with little duckies or barbie on it or something but these children were wearing pink and white two piece bikinis...WTF!!?? Its about that time that I noticed that the crowd watching these "pageants" were made up of the parents of course but also a bunch of random guys who seemed to be there by themselves. Does anyone else see a problem with this?

yes Minx200 they do wear them at the beach but at the beach they are playing in the water and building sand castles not strutting in front of grown men who are judging them

Yes, it's a problem, a big one!!

Too much makeup + bikini= typical pageant for girls of any age. I did pageants/modeling growing up- til I was 15 and moved out on my own- I'm 21 now. With that being said I would not let any of my 3 children be in a pageant or modeling til he/she is 18 AND lives under his/her own roof.

It's all about being in proportion with your height/weight. Did you pay attention to the meals provided during the pageant? I have never watched any of those shows so I don't know if they show it all--- but in the pageants where the child has to stay at a hotel- they give "light" breakfast, lunch and dinner that consists only fruit for one or two of the meals and the other meal is normally pasta or salad. It's insane. I hated it, but my foster parents kept me in pageants and modeling so I would "stay out of trouble" all pageants did is turn me into the person I am now. I am very selfconsious about my weight/looks and everything because in the back of my head there are the rules about how skinny my waist would have to be and so on if I was still doing it. I see that I don't fit that anymore- I have grown to a size 3 which if I still had my old modeling contract my waist is considered too large at the moment..

Yes, I see a HUGE problem with it, but unfortunately these moms think their daughters need to be in these pageants. It's really sad that typically the girls don't even want to be there and the mothers force them without thinking about their safety and well-being. It's disgusting, and I can't believe anybody would even allow let alone make their daughters do these pageants.

**Timeisaliquid--it's highly disturbing that you refer to girls age 2-12 as "eye candy".

I agree with you....that is just going too far. I don't agree with the whole scene anyway, you see Mum's dolling up their 5 year olds with make up and perms and big girl dresses, it just isn't right. Plus it sends the wrong message to these girls to be growing up, relying on looks, worrying about their weight, boobsize buttsize whatever. I saw a news programme a while ago about teenage girls getting boob jobs and cosmetic surgery...it is just ridiculous, and I can't believe parents support it

I don't believe in child beauty pageants PERIOD. I watched a documentary they had on them once on HBO and I was deeply disturbed. Little girls that are at the age that they are losing their baby teeth, they make them wear fake teeth! YUK! Now there is swimsuits? OMG! What's next??????

I agree with you. The whole concept of little girl beauty pageants bothers me b/c the girls are made to look like little street walkers. I realize it's not nice to say, but when you see this photo, it's the truth...

It's just plain gross and not necessary.

i don't just see a problem with the swimsuit competition in those, but i have a problem with the whole thing. i think little girls should be allowed to be little girls and not be made up to look like grown up sex symbols. i think it's rather sick. sorry but i had to get all that off my chest.

I guess to give all of the closet case (wealthy) perverts a cheap thrill. I didn't realize this but I have to admit it sounds disgusting.

Yeah, I see a problem with it as well. Pretty disturbing stuff. Makes you wonder who's watching this stuff and why.

Morally this is wrong....it is a sort of child exploitation and the more they are exposed to this the more they will not understand the importance of child parenting here..all of them are guilty in fact.........well, guess more on rating and business side.......poor kids....
