So, I got some Best Buy GC's for Christmas, and I want to get a video game system. I have a PS2, so a PS3 is intriguing, but the Wii is pretty sweet. I play a lot of sports games (Madden, NCAA football) so I want something that I can just sit and play those games on. Which one should I get?

You have PS2, so getting PS3 is a must. 60GB or 80GB versions play PS2 games. Wii is a toy for senior citizens or toddlers. Seriously, Wii is a very weak console, whereas PS3 is not only great gaming console, but a fully functional next-gen multimedia center. Xbox 360 is better than Wii, PS3 is better than 360.
It's like a car - Wii is a golf cart, while PS3 is a muscle car.

Well ultimately the decision is yours but I'd fail if I didn't mention a couple of things, some have already been said but some things haven't.
1st, start with the fact that you already have a PS2, if you get a PS3 (80GB version) it has backward compatibility to allow you to play those games on that console, allowing you to sell (or trade) your PS2.
2nd, like the others have the Wii's graphics are basically what you currently have, so that's no upgrade.
3rd, there will be more compelling titles (depending on your age) for the PS3 coming than there will be for the Wii.
4th, PS3 can do HD gaming as well as blu-ray playback, along with being able to view streaming media from your home pc and viewing it on the PS3.
5th, PS3 has a HDD that you can download content to, and tons of that content, Wii has no hard drive, you don't really download anything to any mass storage, you have memory cards.

So those are just a few things, I think I'd look at, depending on your age the PS3 is the most reasonable and most fun by (unless you're 14 and under, then go with the Wii).

Simple Answer at bottom of answer.

It's very much up to you. If you want a fun new way to play sports games. Get the Wii. Wii sports and madden are a blast but get tireing. If you want just a good old classic play style stick with the PS3. Also graphics are a big thing. If you dont mind ps2 graphics then no big deal but if you want a graphics upgrade with your system upgrade go with the PS3.

Hope this helps,
Randy

Simple Answer:
Normal Style Play and good graphics - PS3
New fun style of play and PS2 graphics - Wii

Well, since you have a PS2, and you like to play sports games and just "sit" and play them, then I would definantly go with the PS3.

The PS3 is going to have the best exclusive games in 2008. Just the release of Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 and Haze for the PS3 is going to overshadow every game coming out for the Wii and Xbox 360 combined. 2008 is the PS3's year in terms of games and you'll want to have a PS3 to experience it.

Wii, fist off its cheaper (that way you have more to spend on games), plus you already have a PS3.
I have a Wii and love it.
