My soon to be husband is going to be stationed in Japan in the next 6 months and he wants me to move over there with him. I am a bit reluctant because I want to continue my education. Are their any colleges or schooling for Navy spouses overseas?
Also are their any Navy Support groups for spouses?

University of Maryland is at every base overseas as well as many in CONUS. So you can continue your education there. You can also look at some of the local colleges to the area you are going to.

Yes there is support groups for spouses both online and in person. The base it can depend on where he is stationed and what command he is at as many commands have their own FRG's (Family Readiness Group). There could also be a Navy Spouse Group or a Navy Enlisted Spouse Group or Office Spouse Group too. For online you can go into yahoo groups and look there, or go to places like cinchouse or military.com and get information from them.

For him going overseas, if he already has the orders then they will need to be changed to accompanied. In which you then will have to undergo an overseas Medical & Dental screening. This can take a little while to go through, it is to make sure that the base itself can handle any medical problem that you may have. Once that is done, you will then apply for and be issued a No-Fee Government Passport. You should also have a regular Tourist Passport as the No Fee can only be used when you are travelling on the orders. If you have any more questions please ask away.

I know the University of Maryland and several other universities have extension campuses throughout Japan. There are also some military spouses attending the International Division of St. Sophia University in Tokyo.
As for support groups, just about every navy base and station has both enlisted and officers' spouse groups.

call the local navy campus or look them up on line.
there are plenty of schools. Some bases will have different schools @ the local campus on base. Today just about every school offers a distance learning.
