I had one incised yesterday with no anaesthetic, arrrrrrgggghhh, my doctor said this is the norm these days, but 20 years ago i had one done with plenty of local anaesthetic which was fine.
Does anyone have similar experiences/

I would not consider removing a sebaceous cyst without anaesthetic, However if a very small one were tense and infected, I might use the one quick slash technique, but only if I was sure that the wound would be no more than 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch and that I would only be making one cut. Here it is possible that this would be less painful than injecting the anaesthetic to freeze the area.

I had one removed from my neck a few years ago under a local anaesthetic. Where I lay I could watch the operation take place reflected in the glass panels of a cabinet in the consulting room. The doctor operating on it said he had delivered babies much quicker than this.

I told him I didn't realise babies were born via someone's neck.

You know sebaceous glands are found in the skin, It secreats a sebaceous material which keeps your skin smooth, If the opening of the gland is blocked by any reason the secretion collects in the gland itself giving rise to a swelling which is painless unless infected. It looks like a small ball, fluctuating & soft, Enucleation is the treatment of choice.

I had one removed a few years ago WITH numbing. It took only a few minutes to go numb after the stick with the needle. Maybe your doc is so hurried that he/she does not have the time to numb you up Seems like bad medical methods to me

That's crazy, man! find a new dermatologist. If you aren't sensitive to the locals, there is no reason not to numb you up.
