Yes and no.

Through our activities the neighbors will know we're gun owners. Through our magazines, the mailman knows. Through our debit and credit cards people at the banks know. Through our insurance riders insurance company insiders know.

Bottom line is this: guns are very desirable on the street, and guns can make you a target, or make you safer. Which is true depends on your awareness and your readiness.

The old revolver by the bed or in the safe by the front door or in the basement doesn't hack it. I've seen metal, fire-proof doors kicked in in less than 30 seconds. Consider that most successful home invasions consist of teams of at least 3 armed invaders and that your door can be breached in one or two good kicks. What are you going to do, groggy, half asleep, and with your back to 3 masked, armed men because you're trying to open your gun safe?

Keep at least one gun on your person at all times. And make sure you lock up all your guns when you're out of the house and ammunition is separated. You don't want to come home and face a burglar armed with one of your own guns.

In my town, there is one cop on duty at night, and there is no one to answer the phone. To get assistance, I'd have to call the sheriff's office and hope they could reach the cop on duty by radio.

If some SOB comes through my door or window, I'll call for the cop to haul away his carcass.

If you think that using firearms for defense is wrong, next time someone breaks into your home, or mugs you on the street, call the cops, call and ambulance, and call Domino's Pizza and make an order. See which one shows up first.

In Texas, you don't even have to be IN my house anymore. Since hubby claims he needs a new gun safe because his is full and his friends claim that we personally raise the color threat by 2 full colors, you bet I feel safe.

No little kids come in my house so there are loaded guns all over the place, including out in my pick up truck. It would be really stupid to hit our house, yard or vehicles. I wouldn't like being a victim, so I've made a conscious decision not to be.

I have no idea of how many people keep guns in their home....... but I do. Yes, I do feel safer by having a gun in my house because I have the assurance that anyone who climbs through my window will be significantly less safe than if they were crawling through the window of an unarmed home owner. My home is secure........ is yours?

I feel better knowing my family is well protected, as for myself I would rather take someone apart piece by piece and limb by limb. But only an idiot goes after an unknown adversary of unknown numbers with unknown weapons with your bare hands so yes a loaded gun and good flashlight at hand is a nice feeling.

Whether I have 1 or 100 guns in my home is none of your business.
I feel safe in my home because I am in control of my surroundings.
Any 911 calls that would emanate from my home would be placed by an intruder.
