ok here it goes. my mother in law is a very opinionated woman and we have known each other for a long time so I know how to talk to her. Her other son's girlfriend ran into some problems at home and she had to move in with her. She lives rent free pays no bills, no groceries no nothing. And I know how hard it must be living with your bf's mom while still in High school. but she acts like such a rude b*tch to her sometimes i just want to smack her. How can you be rude to someone who provides a roof over your head? And her son sees no problem with her attitude. She sleeps all day and never wants to babysit or wash dishes or clean without asking her a million times. My husband has said things to them but still no change what can I do to help defend my mother in law without making a lot of problems?

There is no sense beating around the bush. Just tell her how rude she is being and that she is being ungrateful. Your mother in law needs to lay down the law and tell her how it is going to be or she will not change.

Wow, no rent, no bills, no responsibility, gets to sleep in as long as she wants,no dishes to do, and the son doesn't care about his mom either. They say you teach people how to treat you. And you even feel sorry for her too. Having emotions for people, you put up with alot of Bull stuff that you would not if they were strangers. Hopefully she will wake up pretty soon. There is not a whole lot you can do, if she won't.

not your problem...give it up and move onto something you can actually control...don't feed into it....your anger will get you no where with a teenager...look at it this way...your mother in law has had more experience with teen agers than you...let it go and in private...let her know that you're there if she needs support.

try talking with the girl alone and be nice so she wont be defensive but try to explain how hard it is to maintain a house and everyone needs to pitch in

nothing.
this is your mother in law's problem. let her handle it. when she gets sick of it she will take care of it.
in the mean time -- let it go.
