It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk workd war 3.

Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).

The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.

Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.

Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

Possibly. I think the events surrounding Iran have the potential to lead to a WWIII.

But more than likely we're heading for a new Cold War, rather than a World War.

That's a good and bad thing.
-It's good because it means a lot of lives will be spared.
-It's bad because it means the chest-pounding by various nations will be continue. That can only lead to conflict, so we may as well get it over with now, before the world creates even more powerful weapons.

I'm really convinced that a very great hardship is in store for humanity and that we will all have a role to play in it, some good and some bad. I've Deja Vou in the past about important parts of my life and its very intiguging. I'll see something happen but then realize it never has happend so I'll go on with life, but when this event does happen I seem to already know whats going to happen. I've seen some really disturbing things lately (past 6 months) that always include a nuclear weapon going off in Chicago and me watching it on the news and then seeing a mushroom cloud erupt from the east near milwaukee. I'm really not sure if I'm just dreaming or if it's really deja vou.

Sorry about me rambling on but I'm very sure something big will happen between the US, Russia, and the middle east.

I really hope I'm wrong!

No. Russia likes to rattle its sword but it just wants to be respected, Putin doesn't want war. China just wants to trade with us. None of our enemies in the middle east have the power that Nazi Germany and the Japanese Empire had in the last world war. Islamic terrorism is a multinational problem, but not on a large enough scale to consider it "world war".

my view? it started a few years ago, just hasn't gotten really cooking yet. and too, war has changed, might not be easily recognized as the all encompassing struggle that it is.

here's the standard rule, if you hear news of a collision of large boats in the persian gulf... run. this is where escalation is most likely to occur.

For WWIII to interrupt out China could could desire to settle directly to lower back North Korea against the UN. i do no longer think of China needs a conflict with the U. S. and Europe. A conflict with North Korea does no longer be a international conflict.

Hmm...I don't think so. War in the middle east has been going on forever. However, what I think is more important is the shifting of powerful nations...

We won World War III vs. the Soviet Union. The war against militant Islam is World War IV.

I think its Inevitable because once earth starts to run out of resources every one will be skrewed. I think it will be during this century for sure and with nukes these days there would be mass casualties.

i believe it will and its likely closer than we think (<50 years), but unlike the others on here, the middle east will not be related to it. the middle east is a series of petty conflicts like kids on a school ground. the big one will come from monetary power houses seeking power - china, russia, india, brazil, etc.
