I'm reading that there are alternatives to bottles with BPA (i.e. Nalgene). I'd like to get a non-BPA hiking bottle. Does anyone know of the alternative, non-BPA companies?

Sigg is your best bet. Nalgene, Bison, Cyclone, etc almost all use BPA because it's in Lexan.

The BPA scare is a lot of hype. To release the cancer causing agents in lexan the container has to go through a barrage of uses in microwave ovens and/or chemical reactions with various industrial cleaning agents.

If it was a serious thing the FDA would have stopped the use of Lexan containers in Food Service.

If you clean your Nalgene with water and mild detergent you will have no problems.

The chances of contracting cancer from the use of a Nalgene bottle is about as likely as your chances of having to perform an emergency amputation of your own arm.

DON'T LISTEN TO THESE PHOBICS!!! THE BPA FREE WATER BOTTLES HAVE EVEN MORE HARMFUL CHEMICALS THEN JUST THE BPA ONES AND ACTUALLY SHOW HIGHER ESTROGEN EFFECTS AS WELL OVER MANY STUDIES THROUGH OUT THE WORLD!! the fda has marked bpa water bottles as safe for a reason! no it's not a government cover up! it's just simply studies done through out many different countries have shown "NO" harmful effects on humans, the stuff it out your system in 24 hours! bpa has been around for 50 years and i'm still here typing,, i can think of 100 other things i should be worrying about.. bpa is in almost everything plastic container you have ever ate and drank from your hole life! if the stuff is bad for you... don't you think it's a little to late to worry now?? however these "bpa free" bottles is just another way to get even more money out of you! i mean your already paying for bottled tap water labeled "spring water" and now phobics are buying "bpa free spring water bottles" lmao like their any safer, anyone that believes that is.. well a idiot. for the part reusing your water bottle, i do that as well, just make sure you change the water at least every other day, i never put my lips on the rim, keeps any germs from contamination. your best bet is to stop winning and keep using a plastic bottle, and the water tasting like plastic is all in your head, if anything its Walmarts water! THIS SHOULD BE BEST ANSWER!!!
