I need to find instructions, preferrably in drawing, of how to teach children to put their coats on by laying them on the floor then putting your arms in and flipping them over your heads!! I know motessori school teach this for independence.

Our library has a video called Preschool Power that demonstrates this. My daughter watched and learned when she was 2.

Here are the basics:

Lay the coat on the floor, with the opening up. Have the child stand with his feet just above the collar, facing the coat, then bend down and stick his arms in the sleeves about halfway and lift it over his head. You'll need to help the first half-dozen times or so.

Edit: Just found a couple of sites showing the jacket flip -

I just taught my son by having him lay it on the floor so that the bottom of the coat was closest to him and having him bend over, put his arms in and flip it over his head. I have no idea where you could find a drawing of it

I just had to say, I had never heard of this before. Is it actually a common thing?
