I have very long hair and the ends get extremely dry. I was instructed to try using Suave's version of Nexxus Humectress (much cheaper than the real stuff and works just as well), saturate the length of my hair (avoid putting it on the roots or scalp as it will make that area oily). Then wrap your hair in plastic wrap and cover that with a hot towel for about 10-20 minutes. Than, rinse it out with cold water (that is what stylists do) and it will make your hair soft and shiny and it will also keep it conditioned as it leaves a bit of the conditioner in your hair.

I don't do this every time, but it has helped and my hair looks much better afterwards. Though I do recommend rinsing your hair with cold water all the time as it really makes a difference.

deep conditioning once or twice a week works really well. Redken has something called rescue force that puts some good protiens in your hair to make it stronger. Using Pureology shampoo & conditioner is THE best for all hair types, but it is very expensive. Hair is naturally moisturized by oils in your scalp. If your scalp has buildup, then the oil can't make it through your hair and thus leaves it pretty dry. Pureology keeps the PH levels on your scalp where they need to be. It's a science, really. Also using serum like Biosilk or CHI works really well for closing the cuticle. If you color or flat iron your hair, these are definately a must. I've heard that placenta masks work good too, but I've never tried them. I have a feeling that they make your hair soft, but it doesnt solve the issue of dry scalp and hair.

I have fine blonde hair and have recently went to a different stylist, well she fried and dried it. The person that I am going to now recommended Matrix Biolage (I think I spelled it correctly) along with these little tubes of Intense Conditioner (Biolage also). Its been about a week and I sure feel a huge differance. I tried all the common shampoos and conditioners down the hair isle I can I honestly say this has helped the most. As for mousse or hairspray I am still not sure what to recommend. I am still searching. Garnier left a awful residue on my hair plus it still felt like straw. The only other one that I would recommend that you can buy from any grocery store is Infusium Leave in Conditioner. Hope this helps..

I have dry hair too, so before I go anywhere I use Dove's Advanced Care Sheer Moisture Leave-In Replenishing Mist, which is basically a moisturizing spray. You can also use shampoo and conditioner made for dry hair, like Sunsilk's Hydra TLC. A lot of dryness in hair often comes from styling so if you blow dry or straighten your hair, try a defense spray like VO5's Heat Defense Conditioning Spray. If you want, you can also use a deep conditioning treatment, like Bumble & Bumble's Deeep, which you use one a week for twenty minutes. Leave-in conditioner is also an option. Good luck!

Rub a small, VERY SMALL, amount of Olive Oil into your wet hair. Make sure not to get it on the roots. Focus mainly on the ends. Leave it in for about 30 minutes. You'll have to shampoo it probably twice to get it all out, but it works wonders.

Use a leave in conditioner and use a hot oil treatment once a week.

hot oil?

what about a self-improved kitchen leftover moisturization?

mayonnaise and egg whites, just mix them and put them in your hair... let stand for 30 minutes, then rinse it off thoroughly, you may want to use a shampoo, try thermasilk (and conditoner too!).

or ... what about herbs?

aloe vera, pure as can be is simply great!

if you want, you can go to a parlor and get a spa.

Get a really good hot oil treatment. I reccommend going to a salon and purchasing one. It helps with dryness and split ends.
