just got a ps3 for xmas, played it for a few hours last night, and now I go to turn it on today and, it beeps, the light turns green for about 2 seconds, beeps twice. then yellow for 1 second, then goes to a flashing red light. I've tried holding my figure over the power botton for 10 seconds trying to reset it... still nothing. unplugged it, waited 10 minutes, still nothing. I don't know what to do, my uncle baught it at gamestop in maryland and I live in TN, he baught it almost 28 days ago, so I have no time to send it back to him for the 30 day warrinty, it was refurbished. guess thats what I get!!!

anyone have any idea how I can fix this? or am I out 350 bux?

yes it's on top of my tv, I have a 52 inch floor model tv and it doesn't get hot on top if it at all, plus I like it very cold, it's winter and I keep my air on, so it stays around 65 in my house all the time. so no way it got hot becos of me lol. unless a fan stopped working or somthing I don't see how it could have over heated. now I've tried pulling out the hard drive and booting it up, I thought it might have been the new firmware upgrade they just came out with. still no luck.

Before doing anything else, call Sony about it. Their customer service should be able to direct you to someone who knows what your machine is doing.

You'll find their number on us.playstation.com somewhere - can't remember off the top of my head but there's complete contact information.

I don't know if sony will fix it for free since it was refurbished, but I'd read over the fine print in that warranty - does it required you to get it back to them within 30 days, or simply to document the problem within 30 days? Maybe if it's postmarked back to them within 30 days. If nothing else you could call them and see. (that could count legally as the problem occurring within 30 days)

Other than that, it's in Sony's interest to keep as many working ps3's out there as it can, so they likely have someone who will take the time over the phone to diagnose what's going on with your console. They may fix it for a reasonable price, if Gamestop won't.

btw I never trust those game store chains. I think of them as like used car lots

I accept as true with Omar mate. If it happens do no longer use it for a mutually as. Take any disk you have interior the gadget out too. possibly attempt and get dissimilar the airborne dirt and dust out that must be blocking off the air vents too, use a vacuum cleanser or some thing. yet i've got not got any genuine suggestion aside from that mate. possibly ring Sony and ask for some suggestion on what to do. i've got had the Yellow gentle of dying thrice. Sucks guy. consistently manages to happen after the guaranty expires too coincidently...

Is it hot to the touch. Make sure no vents are blocked and that it is in a cool location.
