First off, I don't think that person was really a priest. The Mayan calendar ends on 12-21-2012 and many people believe that the world will end on that day. The Bible says that no one knows the exact day when Christ Jesus will return and that we must always be prepared for that day. However, I am curious to see if anything significant happens on that day. The Mayans were pretty clever.

No one can be positive besides the almighty. And maybe Nostradamus. I've heard people say that before, there is also something about the Mayan calendar predicting then to be the end of days in 2012. People have been predicting the 2nd coming and end of days forever and have not been right yet, so I tend to believe it's not going to happen in our lifetimes. I would have to question whether that guy was really a priest, I don't think they normally tell you a specific time when the 2nd coming will be. Don't get too excited.

Total gobbledigook. The end of the world won't be in 2012 and Jesus is never coming back. And if He were He wouldn't be taken seriously. In reality, most so-called Christians who guarantee that He's coming back would be in the front rows of His second crucifixion. Mark my words: Jesus was supposed to come back to free the Jews (not us) from the Romans. And He did not. Still, people continue to believe. Why? because they need to believe in something, otherwise life seems senseless. The fact is life is senseless in terms of human thinking. In the universe, we're as important as a rock or a bug. The universe exists, full stop. There doesn't have to be a reason even though most people wish there were.

The time of the great tribulation will happen in 2012. This date has been given by many cultures and prophets.
Christ will return before this to raise the dead in Christ first and then the living in Christ, the rest will be left to face the tribulation without our help.
It's good that your taking heed- give your life to Jesus now!
Yes we do not know the day of his coming, but Jesus says we will know the season. Those in Christ are given insight, and we KNOW it's the season NOW. Our lord can come at anytime. God did every thing around the seven feasts of Israel, All has been fulfilled except for the feast of Trumpets (which even the Jewish people don't understand) all they know is that they are to clean the streets and be outside and Blow the trumpets, as if a King is coming.
What does this sound like to you?

2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar, but there aren't anymore Mayans so what do they know. I don't think it is going to be a year separate from the others but I am not a prophet. I have also heard that in 2012 the poles will switch places so I guess we will see.

2 Peter 3:

2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: (PROPHESY!)

3 Knowing this first, that THERE SHALL COME in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, WHERE IS THE PROMISE OF HIS COMING? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue * as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5 For this they WILLINGLY are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, BELOVED, be not * * ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9 The Lord is NOT slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but IS LONGSUFFERING to us-ward, NOT WILLING THAT ANY SHOULD PERISH, but that ALL should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord WILL COME as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Actually, this legend is based off the fact that the Mayan calendar, which is cyclical, "regenerates" at this point, which means that the world would end and a new world would begin. Of course, if Christian priests are taking their teachings from pagan human-sacrificing demigod-worshipping priestsa and a calendar they invented, then that is hypocritical.

The world won't end in 2012. Did it end in 2006? Or 1000? Or 2000? Or any other date people said it would? Of course not. For Jesus said, "You know neither the time nor the hour." So we don't. So it isn't.

I don't know. I think the mayan calendar ended at 2012, or something like that. That's why some people say 2012. But the Bible tells us to be ready at ALL times. Better get your book anyway.

No.

People have thought he would come back ever since he left the first time.

The early Christians thought it would be within their lifetime.

Later, people thought it would be in the year 1000. One guy even jumped out of a tree and broke his neck trying to fly to heaven in the rapture.

In recent years, I've heard people say he was coming back in the '70s, then the '80s, then the '90s, then for Y2K, then in 2007 (http://www.2007rapture.com/), and on and on.

2012 is no different.

He just ain't coming.
