im just wondering, like in a times of war or a serious national crisis and this particular spy holds very sensitive information, would he/she be condemned to hell?

note that spy did not willing want to die, they are only doing so to protect their country. And eventually the spy will spill the beans on secrets after being tortured relentlessly.

so in a way is committing suicide in this context a sacrifice?

assuming the "spy" is saved, "No greater love has a man that will lay his life down for his friends."

This is really not committing suicide in the true sense, as the person certainly does not want to do away with himself, but feels he has no other choice, his motives being to protect his country. In a way, it's a noble sacrifice. And I'm certain that God sees it that way also. While suicide is generally considered to be a coward's way out, dying under duress to save his country is not considered suicide as a condemnation, but as a true sacrifice.

Not really since spies who get caught by the enemy rarely live to tell about it anyway. They spy would be merely doing the inevitable, while avoiding torture and suffering in the process.

According to Christianity, God would judge the spy's intentions and punish or reward accordingly.

Though shall not kill probaly supercedes a man made vow.

Pretty simple to me man-made law vs word of God.

You be the judge.

IMO

Good Luck

Good question. Don't know. But unless you're a spy, I wouldn't worry about it.

That would be the case if God is on the spies side....however...if by killing himself, he preserves secrets that causes casualties to the enemy, and God is on their side, he will surly go to hell.

No... I don't believe that suicide is a good thing, but I don't believe in Hell either.

no it would not be considered a sacrifice. i mean martyrs didnt commit suicide just to escape tortures. they stood firm in their faith in Christ.

if he/she never planned on having any children then my pea brain says that its no big loss for the future. if they kill themselves and there wouldve been children in their future, then i'd day its murder every which a way and theyll spend a long time in purgatory
