Because I did earlier today, and thought i mixed the iceing back up to where it looked like it hadn't been messed with, till my stepd ad slammed the door open and asked why there were fingerprints in his iceing.
so is it normal?

Most will stick a finger in the icing but not their hands. While not uncommon, would you like it if a waiter had their fingers in your soda or soup bowl? So, grow up a little and use a spoon next time.

Yes, it is normal - but that does NOT mean it is OK - especially when it is not yours and it is for someone to use for others.
