By international treaty, aircraft registration numbers are designated by country... All USA airplanes start with N, all Canadian airplanes start with C, all Indian airplanes start with VT

Jet Doc, dunno why people give correct answers bad ratings.

Civillian aircraft registrations are based on country. If the aircraft is American, the registration starts with N, Australian - VH, Vietnamese - VN, Thai - HS, Singaporean - 9V, Malaysian- 9M etc etc could go on for ages. Full list at the link below.
