Both of the people were scripturally baptized.
Jesus taught to baptize in the name of Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
The Apostles in Acts baptized in the name of Jesus.
Both are correct and your friend just wants to argue.. Don't get tricked into arguing about baptism when the world needs to hear about Jesus. Your salvation doesn't depend upon your baptism anyway..

I agree with your friend.
What is the name of the Father, Son and
Holy Ghost?
Jesus!
Years ago I was baptized in Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Later after I learned, I was then baptized in Jesus name.
Jesus is the Father, Jesus is the Son and Jesus is the Holy Ghost, and all 3 are 1.

Every church I have been too baptizes in the name of the father, son, and holy ghost. I have a friend that believes that you are suppose to be baptized in Jesus name. I don't think it really matters, but I am not sure. I know that the bible says to baptize in the name of the father, son, and holy ghost and my friend said that it says in the bible to baptize in Jesus' name. I haven't read it but I haven't really looked for it either. He is very smart and knows the bible pretty good so I don't think he would say that unless it is in there, I don't take no one's word about the bible unless I read it myself.

The phrase "in the name of" means by the authority of, or according to the instructions.
The baptism that Jesus instructed is the same baptism authorized by the Father and the Holy Spirit.
In fact, Jesus said "baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:18-20)
This does not mean that this is what is said at a baptism. In fact, there is no indication as to what you should say at a baptism, or even that you have to say anything, except that the one being baptized must be first taught about Jesus. This is just saying the commandment for baptism comes from the authority of God, and it is not merely a commandment of men.
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit all authorize the same baptism. Ephesians 4 says there is "one baptism", therefore, if you are baptized according to the instructions of Jesus, then you are baptized in the manner authorized by all three!
To help better illustrate the meaning of "in the name of", consider this:
If a policeman says, "Stop in the name of the law", he does not mean that you must say "law" when you stop. Instead, he means that the law gives him the authority to command you to stop. The authority resides in what the law has stated.
Likewise, when Peter said, "...be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins..." (Acts 2:38), he did not mean the preacher or the one being baptized has to say "this is in the name of Jesus Christ". What he meant is Jesus has commanded baptism, and by that authority he was telling them that was what they needed to do to be saved.
Jesus in turn noted that the authority he he has was given to him from the Godhead, and his position in the Godhead.

I think you need to be baptized as your husband did.Christ told His disciples to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. For them to do differently would be a sin, going against what the Lord had commanded them to do.This was a water baptism expressing to the church and the world that you were born again. An outward sign of what had been done.
Baptizing in the name of Jesus was the baptism of the Holy Ghost. This was a baptism made of fire.
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, [and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost]. Acts2:38
Luke 3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed [baptize you with water]; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall [baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire]:

You were both baptized... for sure, the UPC thinks that if you don't baptize and say Jesus then you aren't really baptized... But in all reality you both were..... When it was said father, son, and holy ghost... the son part obviously meant Jesus.. It didn't mean, Pedro's son down the street..... Happy New Year to you..

What did Jesus say?
Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. & when they saw Him, they worshipped Him: but some doubted.
And Jesus came & said to them, "All power is given unto me in heaven & in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I AM with you always, even unto the end of the ages. Amen." Matthew28:16-20.
'Name' is singular. Yahweh Elohim is Echad Yahweh (The LORD thy God is One LORD). Echad (One). One Yahweh. Elohim is plural of Elh. And One LORD is God the Father, Son & Holy Ghost.
Personally, I think we should baptize in the Name of the Father, Son & Holy Ghost. So? Your husband was baptized the way Jesus commanded. See? This is the LORD God. God the Father, Son & Holy Ghost. There are three who bear record in Heaven. The Father, the Son & the Holy Ghost. And these 3 are 1. The LORD thy God (Yahweh Elohim) is One LORD (Echad Yahweh).
Yes your husband was baptized. But the question would be if he confessed Jesus Christ his Lord & believed in his heart that Jesus raised from the dead.

The fellowship that I belong to,uses both....but really I believe that the command in Matthew 28,was: "to go"...not a baptizmal formula...Baptising in the "NAME" of the Father,Son and Holy Ghost is synonomous with Baptizing in the "POWER and AUTHORITY"(or name of),the Godhead....Jesus was gving the disciples the authority of the Godhead,to go and make disciples and to Baptize them...They already knew who's name to Baptize in.(Jesus)
In either case,God is not as interested as much with a "correct Baptizmal formula",as He is with the repentent heart that is obeying the command to be water Baptized.

Baptism does not save you.
It is only an outward sign of an inward change.
Go get baptized together. Let the world see you as one. My wife and I did. We were both baptized in the Lake.
Praise God
