True Happiness happens whenever we are not judging anything.
Any time that you are not judging you are happy.
The moment that you start judging, you find something to be unhappy about.
It really is that simple.

Yes, there is evidence.
No, it is not possible to know happiness without sadness.
Evidence:
Waking up from a really sad dream, and being happy that it isn't real.
Waking up from a really happy dream, and being sad that it isn't real.
Thinking you did really bad on a test, and wishing that you could be happier only if you could forget about the test. BUT you end up getting a great grade on test, and thinking that if you knew this a day ago, that day would have been so much better.
There are brats all over the world thinking that they don't have enough stuff, but they just don't know how happy they should be that they have millionare parents.

our brains are in general designed to perceive differences much better than a steady state - we are more interested in changes in our environment than in things which stay the same.
E.g. your eyes move constantly about to enable you to see. If you could keep your eyes could completely still looking at exatly the same spot all you see is a gray fog after a few seconds (it's possible though tricky to do this).
We are especially good at motion perception. If you want to sneak up on somebody, don't run - watch how a cat does it...
If you are hungry you will feel much happier about food as when you are full. There are countless examples.

~ The 4 Noble Truths incorporate the essence of Buddha's teachings, nonetheless they pass away plenty left unexplained. they are the fact of suffering, the fact of the reason for suffering, the fact of the top of suffering, and the fact of the path that finally ends up interior the top of suffering. greater in basic terms positioned, suffering exists; it has a reason; it has an end; and it has a reason to deliver forth its end. The thought of suffering isn't meant to place across a unfavourable international view, yet rather, a useful attitude that bargains with the international because it quite is, and tries to rectify it. the thought of excitement isn't denied, yet regarded as fleeting. Pursuit of excitement can only proceed what's ultimately an unquenchable thirst. the comparable logic belies an be responsive to-how of happiness. interior the top, only ageing, affliction, and demise are specific and unavoidable.~

Go back to the beginning. Do babies experience joy without pain and happiness without sadness? I think so.( unless you consider the pain of birth or circumsision etc.) and crying representing sadness.) Its not that you require one to have the other. It is that we experience a wide range of emotions.
Its were you choose to focus your energy.
Relax, enjoy, smile, laugh, give a hug and be happy & joyful!
and if you're sad its okay to cry.

Yes it is possible. That saying is like saying that you must be poor before you can be rich. Paris Hilton was never poor. You need to learn where happiness comes from. See site below to see what psychologists know about happiness and how it has nothing to do with sadness.

Sure you can have happiness without ever having had sadness but you will not be as appreciative of it. The more you have experienced sadness the more happiness is treasured.

When God created Adam, His plan was that they would live in peace and in His presence forever, along with the rest of us. When we experience pain, God brings healing and we know joy. Through our pain, we can reach out to others that are hurting. Sin has brought pain and suffering into the world, but Jesus came to heal and set us free from this affecting our lives.

I think,to appreciate fully the positive human emotions, one must endure and victoriously live through the negative ones.
I will never forget "Richard Wurmbrand",(Author of: "Tortured for Christ"...Once,at the Tampa airport where we picked him up,he stated to a female vender, during a purchase..."You have a beautiful smile...If you were to know Christ, you could smile, even when suffering"...He never missed an opportunity to share his love for and experiences with,God.
((((TTC & BEENIE))))...God's not done with either of you,on this forum...
