I had mine done when I was 12. I'm now 32 and it still hurts sometimes to sleep on it. Sometimes if they're not done right, the pain will persist.

Cartilege, as you know, does not tend to take to piercings very well. The cartilege is not very vascular (no blood supply) so the pressure on it from the piercing can actually cause it to degrade. It becomes infected easily. It is best to try to avoid putting pressure of any kind on a cartilege piercing, so try to avoid sleeping on your side. If you sleep on your back this should solve the problem.

No, not really. This means that inside of your ear is infected, dirty or it wasn't done properly or the piercer was not disinfected. Get a ear and/or earring cleaning solution from where you got your ears pierced. Clean your ears 2 times a day and your earrings. If it doesn't get better, you might want to go to your doctor.

Oh yes, mine hurt for six months or so and no it was not infected but it just really didn't want to heal. It finally did and I have had it for about 12 yrs now. Make sure your are cleaning it and it's not infected. If it gets infected take it out.
