Hey what are those things where you can plug 2 component cables into, then put 1 component into the TV, then just press a button on the thing and it switchs signals?

source selector, source switcher, A-B Switch.
If you get one that's powered (plugs into an AC outlet) - it can actually reset and boost your signal - sometimes giving you a better picture over long stretches of cable.

switchers, switcher box, etc. I use one on my old audio receiver b/c it doesn't have enough plugs for all my components. Radio shack/circuit city/micro center will all know what you're looking for.

They are called video switches.
Some of them even come with a remote control!!
