I'm so very sorry to hear about your cat :-( Unfortunately there's not much you can do about feeling down. Only time can help you get over your grief. Hugs...feel better soon !

I am sorry for your loss Alyssa. It is normal to grieve for anyone you loose that you care for, and a pet can be similar to a human friend, emotionally. Talk about your feelings to people who can show respect for your grief, not everyone will. Remember the happy times you had with your cat and the things you enjoyed about her. Try not to blame yourself, it will be normal to feel guilt and anger.
You will be sad for a while, and another cat will not make that go away. But eventually you will find that sorrow no longer takes up so much of your thoughts, and you can move on.
While you may think that another kitten or cat will make things better, you really should wait until you have had some time to deal with your emotions. There are lots of reasons that replacing a pet right away is not good, but off the top, think of how the new cat will keep bringing back the feelings of loss. This is part of how you grow into a stronger person. Let it happen.

Sometimes it's very unexpected. I make sure all my animals go to the vet regularly so I know I did all I could to keep them healthy. Beyond that, it's out of our control. I found that waiting a little bit then looking for another pet was what helped me. I just needed another one to cuddle after a dog I had died at an early age from kidney failure. Good luck to you and know you're not alone. Cry when it hurts and laugh at your good memories. Sorry about your loss

I'm so sorry about your kitty. I lost a kitty 10 months ago and it still hurts. Time is the only thing that will make it better. When you're ready (and only then) you might want to adopt a shelter kitty who desperately needs a home. That would be the ultimate homage to your kitty. Take care and cry all you need to. (((HUGS)))

I had a memorial made for my Dixie with this poem on it. It kinda put things into perspective for me. Hope it helps you.

I am sorry that you must undergo this heartache .
The best thing is to find a friend who is right now waiting for you at your local animal shelter and would love being loved by you and loving you back !
I hope all will be well with you ; it is hard to have your heart broken by tragedy .

You should remember all the good times you had with your cat. Frame a picture of him/her and place it on your nightstand.

Just out of curiosity: What happened to your cat?

Should you say like the cat is gone to cat heaven or try to replace it.
If your child is old dont replace it or they will defintly tell.

try to take them out somewhere they like and break the bad news.

Rest assured your beloved cat is at peace and happy.

You could write a poem or a letter about your cat.
You could make a memory box or scrapbook with your cats pics, favorite toys, and some other things to remember it.
You could adopt another kitten to love.
You could talk to Jesus about your pain.
