it says that your body is a temple, so would you go and throw rocks in a temple/church window? you shoudl treat your body the same way. i know its hard to think of, i used to cut, its been about a month now, its very hard and it becomes an addiction, but to God, it is a sin and he doesnt like to see his child cuttin their own flesh...stay strong

To answer your question simply: yes.

Our bodies are God's temple. Do any of us treat our bodies as well as we should? Probably not. But as with all other sin, we are forgiven if we believe and ask for that forgiveness. And the last thing God wants believers to feel is guilt. That is exactly the type of thing he has freed us from.

But grace should not be abused. Just like with any other sin, if it is a problem for you, you need to cut it out (no pun intended!)

If you (or someone you know) is doing this, you need to get help. Don't keep it to yourself. Talk to someone you trust, a friend or a pastor.

Self mutilation is complicated enough without adding the guilt factor into it.No,it's not a sin,but a symptom of much deeper issues. While the reasons(and methods)vary, there is anger, guilt, frustation on a level that needs immediate attenion.I don't know if this applies to you or someone you know, but please, get help for yourself or the person you're talking about. They need a freind, not a judge

In a way yes. If you cut yourself you have some major problems that need to be looked after asap.

I don't know if I'd call it a sin, but I'm certain that God wouldn't want you to hurt yourself. You need to learn a better way to deal with your problems. Take care.

please don't listen to all of the people trying to make you feel worse. it's not a sin. If you're doing it to try to commit suicide, you might want to reconsider that because suicide is a sin. However, it's your body. I would discourage it because it just causes trouble and is a pain in the butt to deal with. But if that's what you want to do...but don't let people fool you into guilt and stuff like that. I've got your back. :)

Anything done out of despair is a sin; cutting, suicide, buying crap you don't need at the mall to try and feel better.

God loves us and wants us to be happy, or at least content. I know it seems hard to BE happy and content, but that's why we're here, to learn the knack of it.

Most organized religions actually have a place for self flagellation - they just don't want to admit it. It is usually done for the blessings of God.
Psychiatrically, it is usually done as a manifestation of mental issues of self-worth for the purpose of physically feeling pain in place of well intentioned intimacy ( feeling ) with others.

It is a cry for help. Look for help another way. Ask Jesus to help you, rather than hurting yourself. Ask him for a clear mind and understanding, and to lead you to a supportive person in you community.
